Did Stephen A. Smith cross the line?

I agree with what he said. If a woman puts her hands on me and I feel as if she has the capability to do actual harm, she's catching two to the chin... There is a double standard in this country when it comes to women putting their hands on men.

I went to my wife's first baby shower only because it was held by my side of the family and uh we were still engaged. I was the only dude there. The last one I was somewhere with my brother and my sister hosted it at her house. I never went by there nor did I go to the other ones on her side of the family. I wear pink Polos, I have salmon polo shorts but I don't call them salmon... They off red... Now the breast cancer awareness trap is just that a trap. Everyone gets worked up over a parent or someone who has it. Thing is it's not the most aggressive and or kills the most people. There are way worse cancers that are killing way more people but the Drug companies back Breast Cancer because it gets people all emotional and worked up mainly women. Pancreatic cancer, lung cancer are some that do more harm but get no love and the drug companies are making billions off these while pumping up breast cancer...

Your own child's baby shower is different bruh. Somebody got to carry all them gifts.

My old roommate begged me to come to his because he didn't want to be the only dude there. I felt weird but was okay until they started the baby bottle sucking contest. I conveniently dipped out when they started discussing the game.

One of the admins at my job heard a male coworker of mine say that he wouldn't be caught dead in pink because it's a girl color and reported him to HR.......

Wow, now that's just petty trying to ruin someone's career over b.s. There are some women that start mess with men (sort of like what Stephen A. is talking about) and will be quick to call the police after they get what they're begging for........(drama loving demon seeds). It's not always the man's fault like some would lead you to believe. When you see these traits in a woman my suggestion is get the hell away fast. I also recommend to women if they see ass kicking traits in a man, leave him early on too. You have to realize that sadistic, sick women and men exists. A lot of people have issues that can't be seen on the surface........

Well, I did not stick around to see the games. It was my boy, so I came through, spoke and dipped out. We went and played madden.

I rarely agree with anything Stephen A. Smith says. IMO, he went to the same journalism school as Sean Hannity because all either of them do is yell to make their point or whenever someone challenges their opnion. HOWEVER, I agree with him on this subject. He did not say ALL abused women ask for it. Via the media, anytime there is news of a woman being hit it is automatically assume that some jerk of a guy randomly initiated the abuse. Yet, I bet all of us here can think of a female who was known to slap, hit, punch, etc her guy or any guy when they get mad. Some men are smart enough to walk away from such women the first time it happens, but if a woman continues down that path then IMO, yes she is asking to be dealt with like a man.

NOW!!!!! I am smart enough to know that for every woman like menitioned above, there is several bully men who beat on women for no reason. Neither of them are right.

As for wearing colors, baby showers, and other stuff. It doesn't make you less of a man to wear pink or to even know the difference between basic pink and salmon. I attended the baby shower for my second kid because my wife didn't even want one but her friends insisted so she made them commit to just a bbq with other couple friends.

still trying to figure out what Stephen A. Smith said that was wrong.....

Me too! What makes it worse is that he said over and over again that under no circumstance is it ok to hit a female. Mike and Mike disgusts me because Golic went on a rant talking about how awful Stephen A's comments were. SMH

The same thing that pissed off the LGBT community about what Dungy said. He didn't cross a line either but in this PC world if you say something that is not PC (i.e. Sometimes women will provoke some men to give them a 2 piece from Popeye's with the sides) you are viewed as a trouble maker.

You cant remotely say anything about Jews Homosexuals or Black women or you will be brought way down. SAS apologized profusely this morning like his job was on the line. Im not a SAS fan, but he said nothing wrong. All he said is the same thing every black mother said. "dont hit nobody and nobody wont hit you." Thats all he said. Dont provoke nobody into a fight by hitting them and if they hit you they are totally in the wrong.

There is nothing with what he said...but he had to apologize just so "them folks" would let it go. And dont use punk ass Obama for apologizing...he would apologize for being half-black if FoxNews told him to....

I watch Judge Judy and I like the way she handles domestic abuse. She asked the woman if she hit him first, if she says yes sometimes she starts the fight, she says, "Im done with it. Thats not domeestic abuse. If you hit him first he is suppose to hit you back."

I have not listened to those jackasses since greenberg's Martin Luther c**n misspeak...they both do nothing but co-sign each other....they are sickening.

One has a right not to like a reporter or commentator, but they should not twist their words. Someone correct me. I did not hear or see where he said that it was the victim's fault for being abused. I did hear him say that a man should not hit or abuse a woman. I heard that very clearly.

I saw the interview yesterday with an NFL rep on Mike and Mike. His answers sounded like lawyer's speak to me. I am sure that many have more questions after the interview. I would be interested in knowing what the police and prosecutor know, but we do not always know what they know about a case.

I thought that Rice would have gotten a lot longer suspension when I first saw the video. What is interesting is that the suspension by the NFL is the only punishment that I can see that Rice is getting.

Here's an excerpt of what Smith said that has folks up in arms:

“We know you have no business putting your hands on a woman. I don’t know how many times I got to reiterate that. But as a man who was raised by women, see I know what I’m going to do if somebody touches a female member of my family. I know what I’m going to do, I know what my boys are going to do. I know what, I’m going to have to remind myself that I work for the Worldwide Leader, I’m going to have to get law enforcement officials involved because of what I’m going to be tempted to do. But what I’ve tried to employ the female members of my family, some of who you all met and talked to and what have you, is that again, and I’ve done this all my life, let’s make sure we don’t do anything to provoke wrong actions, because if I come, or somebody else come, whether it’s law enforcement officials, your brother or the fellas that you know, if we come after somebody that has put their hands on you, it doesn’t negate the fact that they already put their hands on you. So let’s try to make sure that we can do our part in making sure that that doesn’t happen.”

The problem is this statement, "...Let’s make sure we don’t do anything to provoke wrong actions...". You all think it's just oh she hit him first so she provoked him. It's not always that simple...and that's why he's being attacked. Yes, you probably want to say, "well he was talking about THIS case"...but it's not that simple. Because his comments apply to ALL domestic violence cases...that's why he needs to STFU and stay in his lane and talk about sports.

But according to the Stephen Smith..she provoked him because she shrank his t-shirts.

Again...this is why folks that don't have experience in these areas shouldn't speak on these types of topics. Clearly he doesn't know any better and should stick to sports.

He still didn't say anything "wrong"...HOWEVER, the interpretation is where people get crossed, and I can understand people being a little miffed about that.

But we, as brothers who have seen women be aggressors in situation in person, knew EXACTLY what Stephen A. Smith
meant. Again, let's look at the Texas Tech(which I JUST saw the video for), this chick threw a punch at the young man, and although he shouldn't have hit her back, she initiated and escalated the situation and got this kid kicked out of school

This is what Stephen A. Smith essentially meant don't provoke or escalate a situation through violent or physical contact on anybody. A lot of women don't understand this concept. Some women truly believe that they can lay hands on any dude and it's ok. The general consensu is that no matter what a woman does physically, she's protected because she's a woman...and with some dudes, that is not the case

Really?! A lot of women don't understand that concept? How many? Have you taken a poll of female domestic abuse victims and found that most of those women didn't understand that concept? Did you speak with female victims hiding in a shelter from their abuser and found that most of those women didn't understand that concept?!

What number/percentage = "a lot of women"?!
