Defensive POW from Buffalo

I think that was a joke Solo. This is the smack board. ) I certainly hope so. ) The defense was so bad that the Clarion Ledger chose Kent as the offensive player of the game and NO ONE for the defensive Player of the game.

It's no joke, the following is from the SWAC official page:

Offensive Player
Robert Kent (QB) - Jackson State - 6-5, 205, Soph., Indianola, MS Robert "Clark" Kent passed for an impressive 595 yds (57-38-0) and six TDs, he also rushed for 73 yards and 1 TD. Kent is responsible for seven of the Jackson State's eight touchdowns and 668 of the Tigers' 723 Total Offensive yards.

Defensive Player
Elgin Andrews (LB) - Jackson State - 6-1, 248, Jr., McComb, MS Elgin recorded 16 tackles (4 solo) and 1 TFL (2) against Alabama State.

Specialist
Mark Bradley (WR/PR) - Arkansas-Pine Bluff - 6-1, 180, Soph., Pine Bluff, AR Bradley had a total of 5 punt returns for 150 yds. Two of those punt returns, in the first quarter, resulted in touchdowns (58 and 77) in the Golden Lions' 28-22 win over Texas Southern.

Newcomer
Chris Cooper - (LB) - Southern - 6-0, 225, Jr., New Orleans, LA Cooper is credited with 10 tackles, 2 TFL (12) and 1 sack (12) in the Jaguars 23-20 win over Alabama A&M.

Kent was a no-brainer, but Andrew's?? It seems that the SWAC chooses whoever has the most tackles in a given week. The special teams POW should've been that retrun man from Bama. He kept them in excellant field position all game.

Love me some SWAC officials. They got about as much a clue about football as Maxwell Smart and Inspector Gadget.

Jackson State and Defense.........

........oxymoron!!!
