Dear Alabama State: Hire Coach Ruffin!

You have a coach with a winning pedigree, and also have a great coaching staff. I really don't want him to leave Miles. But, I know, he has reached his ceiling.

We all know Miles won’t be able to hold onto him forever. My advice to him is to be careful where he go. Can’t wait to see where he apply for a HC job next.

If Ruffin ends up at ASU, it will be a very interesting addition to the MCC rivalry. Ruffin interviewed for the AAMU job last year and allegedly said A&M was his dream job during the interview.

ASU & JSU should also look at Bowie State's HC

Morgan played defensive back, wide receiver, and running back for Langston during the 2004 and 2005 seasons. Before transferring to LU, he played at Jackson State from 2003-2004. He played high school football at Bonnabel High School in New Orleans, La. He played four seasons of professional football, three of those years with the San Angelo Stampede Express in the IFL Arena League and one season with the AF2 Iowa Barnstormers.

No Sir... He is a excellent Coach but we are not looking at the DII level for a new head coach..

The Bowie State situation is gonna be interesting because Amir Hall leaves this year so the coach might catch the first thing smoking out if the opportunity presents it.

Ruffin is also the AD at Miles so we will see if he is willing to let go of that sweet gig for a D1 HBCU and the headaches that can come with them and the fan bases

Barlow might get a look or two as well as the VUU coach.

I think, he is just waiting for the right opportunity. I remember, when I was at Miles. I think, Prairie View was interested in Coach Streeter. But, he didn't take the opportunity. Well, I think, he should've left. He didn't!

Hopefully, he will go into somewhere that is a right fit. Jackson State would also be great for him. (But, I wouldn't let him near those fans)

Not only for coaching, but I have heard the players love him like a father!

He is a good coach and man.

As opposed to what else? You say he's "excellent," but you don't want to take him because he coaches at the D2 level? What exactly are you looking for? The last two coaches you've hired coached D1. How has that worked out so far?

Pete Richardson was a D2 coach before he got to Southern.
Rod Broadway was a D2 coach before he got to Grambling.
Jerry Mack was a D2 (asst) coach before he got to NCCU.

I'm just saying.

Mack was also at South Alabama, Memphis, UCA, etc., Broadway was a Florida, UNC, etc.

unless he means sole D2 experience only

You've heard me say it over and over again, how much I respected this coach. When Jones was fired, Maynor was #1 on my wish list as a supporter and fan but Hampton grabbed him quick. Then I kept throwing the name Reggie Ruffin around and people were like, who is that, David's grandson? But now people are taking notice. We (AAMU) got the right man but still, I hope Ruffin don't land at any school that we have to play against...

Comegy and Jones too...

Lot of rings between those 5.

Football is football, folks.

Exactly! As fans, it's easy to get caught up into "sexy" hires. And it has been proven that "sexy" hires don't always work.

True... BUT on the other hand, some "unsexy" hires give you hideous results.

Lot of folks shook heads at ASU for hiring Ealy because he had already shown an inability to put a winning team together at his previous stop.

Personally, I'm against giving 2nd chances to coaches who already sputtered out at a previous stop.
