Cure for Sickle Cell Anemia?

I was watching the news last night and a one of these Houston channels did a segment on a little boy who wsa cured of sickle cell anemia by a doctor who used (embilical) cord blood from an unknown source to change the boys blood type, thereby curing him of the disease.

This means the end of suffering for alot of brothers and sisters.

Any thoughts?

I'm looking for an article on the subject, when I find it I'll post it.
