Raymond Cotton, a once highly recruited quarterback who has had stops at three schools since 2009, has committed to play at Jackson State, his father said today.

Cotton gave a non-binding verbal commitment to JSU coach Rick Comegy near Christmas, said Cotton’s father, also named Raymond.

Cotton, a 6-foot-2, 225-pound junior, most recently played at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, where he played in 10 games throwing for 804 yards, six touchdowns and nine interceptions.

A four-star recruit out of Fort Meade High School in Maryland, Cotton signed with Ole Miss in 2009 as the No. 11 rated quarterback prospect in the country according to Rivals.com and the No. 22 quarterback according to Scout.com.

So this is the guy that's suppose to replace Casey?

Hopefully the kid prospers as a student athlete at JSU. I wish the kid the best. Maybe going to Ole Piss was traumatic. Lol.

As for Comegy. He said he was going to do this. No shock. He just don't like developing Freshmen Qbs for his program. He is like his mentor Billy Joe.

Y'all posted the same things (and worse) about Casey.
Deal with it! We know y'all hate Comegy & y'all hate transfers.
Y'all will deal with it or continue being pressed about it. One or the other.

Who says the guy's going to start? He will have to earn that position during fall camp.
And like dude said, Comegy told y'all (his closet fans) that he was going to bring in a transfer/and or QB that's ready to lead/play right away.

What does that mean? Done correctly?

Do you think this transfer is being done correctly?

Looking at his stats, nope. I have to watch tape.

Correctly= Jimmy Oliver, Casey
Wrong= Trey Rutland (financial backers), Steve (lazy azz recruiting)

Hell we are gonna beat JSU anyway, no need to hate lmao

Hmmmmm..........

Gulf Coast coach Steve Campbell called Cotton "a big, strong quarterback who can really throw the football ... kind of a Cam Newton-kind-of kid. Real good kid, good young man, good citizen," he said.

Who in the SWAC develop freshman QBs now adays anyway? Name one coach.

Now you know Doug will.
Stump don't know how himself, but he will play one.
I imagine Barlow will play one.
Probably Valley and PB.

But as far as a true developer of a QB. Doug is the only one.

Doug dont "develop" freshman QBs. He just throws them out there for the wolves and tell them to sink or swim.

Heres Doug version of developing freshmen QBs:

That's what I'm thinking. Is he a problem kid? Hopefully he is a good fit for JSU and does well and stays out of trouble. JSU, why do you all keep getting these kids with problems?

Yea he's a problem kid. He murdered a family of three! And he's a drug addict. (did you bother to read?)
He never played @ Ole Miss (red shirt)
Played in 3 games @ South Alabama (reserve)
He rotated @ the Juco bc of his Bronchitis midway through season.

Like I said, we don't even know if the kid will start. He has to earn that position come fall. (That's if he makes it that far)

Does he "develop" any QB? Or are they just thrown out there to do the best the can until they graduate?

Look at Casey. Can anyone honestly say they saw a consistent pattern of improvement that was due to good QB coaching?

Not saying that any other SWAC coach develops QBs. I'm just wondering how JSU fans view Comegy's QB coaching in general.

Like I stated earlier. Dont no SWAC coaches "develop" freshmen QBs.

Jagfan, to answer your question, no. That is why need to keep bringing in transfer QB's.

He went to Ole Miss his freshman year and didn't like it. Transferred pronto.

Can't blame the kid for that. Houston Nutt must have sold him a bag of goods. A kid from MD coming to Ole Piss has to be a shock to the system. One of the reasons they will never be able to get kids from other places around the country with any consistency. LOL.
