  • WASHINGTON — “Any way you cut it, this is going to be bad,” a senior medical adviser at the Department of Veterans Affairs, Dr. Carter
  • Mecher, wrote on the night of Jan. 28, in an email to a group of public health experts scattered around the government and universities. “Theprojected size of the outbreak already seems hard to believe.”

  • A week after the first coronavirus case had been identified in the United States, and six long weeks before President Trump finally took aggressive action to confront the danger the nation was facing — a pandemic that is now forecast to take tens of thousands of American lives — Dr. Mecher was urging the upper ranks of the nation’s public health bureaucracy to wake up and prepare for the possibility of far more drastic action.
“You guys made fun of me screaming to close the schools,” he wrote to the group, which called itself “Red Dawn,” an inside joke based on the 1984 movie about a band of Americans trying to save the country after a foreign invasion. “Now I’m screaming, close the colleges and universities.”

Erin Schaff/The New York Times “Nobody knew there would be a pandemic or epidemic of this proportion,” President Trump said last month. He has repeatedly said that no one could have seen the effects of the coronavirus coming.

His was hardly a lone voice. Throughout January, as Mr. Trump repeatedly played down the seriousness of the virus and focused on other issues, an array of figures inside his government — from top White House advisers to experts deep in the cabinet departments and intelligence agencies — identified the threat, sounded alarms and made clear the need for aggressive action.

The president, though, was slow to absorb the scale of the risk and to act accordingly, focusing instead on controlling the message, protecting gains in the economy and batting away warnings from senior officials. It was a problem, he said, that had come out of nowhere and could not have been foreseen.

It’s in particular stressful on Millennials because our parents are at risk and a great majority of our parents within there latest 50s to late 60s have underlying health issues. My dad at 64, told me he was doing ok but scared from this Virus thing really messed with me. This virus is killing people out of no where for no reason kinda like.

In a sane logical world, this would be the end of Trump's presidency. His party would tell him "we're good" and find another candidate to replace him.

But in reality, there is too much blood on America's hands and whether from God if you believe or the universe if you don't, Justice is coming.

Beijing faces a diplomatic crisis after reports of mistreatment of Africans in China causes outrage

https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/13/asia/china-guangzhou-african-blacklash-hnk-intl/index.html

Beijing is facing a diplomatic crisis in Africa after reports of alleged coronavirus-related discrimination against African nationals in China sparked widespread anger across the continent.

African students and expatriates in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou were last week subject to forced coronavirus testing and arbitrary 14-day self-quarantine, regardless of recent travel history, amid heightened fears of imported infections.

Large numbers of African nationals were also left homeless, after being evicted by landlords and rejected by hotels in the city.
Having reportedly contained the virus within China, concerns have grown in recent weeks over a so-called second wave, brought into the country by overseas travelers.

Beijing tightens grip over coronavirus research, amid US-China row on virus origin.

https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/12/asia/china-coronavirus-research-restrictions-intl-hnk/index.html

China has imposed restrictions on the publication of academic research on the origins of the novel coronavirus, according to a central government directive and online notices published by two Chinese universities, that have since been removed from the web.

Under the new policy, all academic papers on Covid-19 will be subject to extra vetting before being submitted for publication. Studies on the origin of the virus will receive extra scrutiny and must be approved by central government officials, according to the now-deleted posts.

A medical expert in Hong Kong who collaborated with mainland researchers to publish a clinical analysis of Covid-19 cases in an international medical journal said his work did not undergo such vetting in February.

The increased scrutiny appears to be the latest effort by the Chinese government to control the narrative on the origins of the coronavirus pandemic, which has claimed more than 100,000 lives and sickened 1.7 million people worldwide since it first broke out in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December.

Welp! These...are...the breaks!

Somebody did not read Matthew 4:7
New American Standard Bible
Jesus said to him, "On the other hand, it is written, 'YOU SHALL NOT PUT THE LORD YOUR GOD TO THE TEST.'"

This was after Jesus had been in the wilderness fasting for 40 days and nights. And remember who it was who came to Jesus with these "tests".

Don Lemon Tears Into Donald Trump After Revealing Close Friend Died Of Coronavirus

https://www.yahoo.com/huffpost/don-lemon-donald-trump-coronavirus-friend-083323525.html

CNN’s Don Lemon on Monday tore into President Donald Trump’s “epic meltdown” during the day’s coronavirus task force briefing, revealing that his close friend, the LGBTQ advocate Robby Browne, died from the virus over the weekend.

Lemon called out Trump, who falsely declared during the briefing that the president’s “authority is total,” for making it “all about defending himself, gaslighting, rewriting history, instead of giving Americans the facts that we all need to save our own lives and the lives of people that we love.”

“I lost a very good friend this weekend. I wanted to hear from the president how he is going to stop that from happening,” said Lemon. “Instead, I got a campaign video. What do I need a campaign video for?”

Donald Trump Gets Fact-Checked By Reporter Right To His Face, Walks Away

A reporter earned praise Monday after she called out President Donald Trump, over one of his more questionable claims, right to his face.

CBS’ Paula Reid challenged Trump over his discredited assertion that his administration’s policy of separating migrant children from their families at the U.S.-Mexico border was the same as that conducted by former President Barack Obama.

“Obama had a separation policy. We all had the same policy,” Trump said. “You did not have it, sir. No, you didn’t,” Reid fired back.

Trump said he “tried to do it differently” and claimed “Obama had a separation policy” but “people don’t like to talk about it.” As Trump walked away, Reid said: “Sir, it was different. You decided to prosecute everyone at the border.”

Mitch McConnell tried to gut a CDC program directed at detecting and responding to infectious-disease outbreaks

https://www.yahoo.com/news/mitch-mcconnell-tried-gut-cdc-151639794.html

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell in 2017 repeatedly tried to defund a critical program at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention directed at detecting and curbing the spread of infectious diseases, The New Yorker reported.

As Republicans were working to repeal the Affordable Care Act, McConnell introduced an amendment to ax the Prevention and Public Health Fund, which assists states in detecting and preventing the spread of infectious diseases.

The New Yorker reported that almost two-thirds of the fund's money goes to state and local health departments, including a program in McConnell's home state of Kentucky.

McConnell and other Republicans tried again to gut the program after their push to repeal the ACA failed in 2017, but most of the fund ultimately survived.

Tax change in coronavirus package overwhelmingly benefits millionaires, congressional body finds.

More than 80 percent of the benefits of a tax change tucked into the coronavirus relief package Congress passed last month will go to those who earn more than $1 million annually, according to a report by a nonpartisan congressional body expected to be released Tuesday.

The provision, inserted into the legislation by Senate Republicans, temporarily suspends a limitation on how much owners of businesses formed as “pass-through” entities can deduct against their nonbusiness income, such as capital gains, to reduce their tax liability. The limitation was created as part of the 2017 Republican tax law to offset other tax cuts to firms in that legislation.

Suspending the limitation will cost taxpayers about $90 billion in 2020 alone, part of a set of tax changes that will add close to $170 billion to the national deficit over the next 10 years, according to the Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT), the nonpartisan congressional body.
