No one said anything when it happened at Rosa's funeral or at any other political figures funeral, **** they did the same thing at the Pope's funeral so why is this any different?

Also this was the second funeral that was held for her the first was very private family and friends only.

I had a problem when it happend at theirs....this country makes a damn political view of everything...

If her kids didn't have a problem with it, why does everyone else? I think people just need something to talk about. No one knows whether she discussed the kind of funeral she wanted with her kids or not. Some people actually talk to their kids about stuff like this. Obviously the Kings didn't have a problem with nothing that took place, so why should other people.

When anyone dies it?s usually left to the children or some other close
Relative/friend to do the funeral arrangements. It?s theirs, unless the deceased
Left specific arrangements, it is their prerogative to design the funeral however they see fit.

I know Mrs. King?s life has always been about service & speaking out
I know her family would know her wishes better than me
I know they had another private ceremony

I also know;
Cowardice asks if it?s safe?
Politics asks is it popular?

Many times people do things that are neither safe or popular, because
Their conscious knows it?s right!
Thank God for those people!

My bet is that Mrs. King loved those political comments that stepped on toes &
Hurt sentiments, because the world was watching & that?s what her life was all about.
Those with hurt feelings deserved to have them.

So continue with your bashing & Thank you Mrs. King for showing us that
Unearned suffering is Redemptive.

Regards.

I didn't see anything wrong with the comments. They were on point and relevant to the time. Most of the comments showed a parallel to what Ms. King and other had stood for and gone through and how these issues have still not been resolved. In a different environment she may not have brought up the issues herself, but I believe she would have endorsed them being said. No one made a direct attack on President Bush, just called out things that were still true today. Even Dr. Lowrey's statement about "all of the talk today, but what about tomorrow" (paraphrased) was a dig at all the politicians to me.:

Well put and I agree totally.

Most if not all of those statements were approved before hand by the King Family. Please don't think they didn't know what they were doing. Look at who was allowed to speak and who was not... ( ie Sharpton and Jackson) come on people REALLY:rolleyes:

Good point...

Well, I didn't find the comments made by any of the speakers inapporiate. Bernice (was very political in the eugoly). She made a lot of comments concerning war, poverty, and justice for all mankind. Bernice did not try to be politically correct in addressing her mother's homegoing. Coretta Scott King's whole life has been political and her children knew exactly what she wanted at her homegoing service.

I commend Dr. Lowery, and others that spoke out about what is going on in this world right now. President Bush is not any better than anyone else. He needs to hear the truth. He has this country in a mess and people with any kind of sense is angry. It is time to stop sugar-coating important issues. Carter spoke the truth about Katrina and Rita, and so did Clinton in reference to the "King Center."

Instead of people being upset about the comments made at the funeral, we should be upset with ourselves for allowing our people in this country and world (that the Lord created) being destroyed by greed and uncaring politicians. Mrs. King stood for justice and peace.

Thank you Mrs. King for fighting a good fight. Now you can rest at last. :angel2:

In seeing the furneral (1.5 for 4) I can see that people tied their agendas in with the belief of Coretta, which seemed a bit appropos. However, that should've waited until later. The furneral should been a moment of remembering more so than political grandstanding. While most of the things said were the right thing to say, they shouldn't have been said at that venue..
