Are the Dons back as a national power?

USF men’s basketball stuns No. 4 Virginia for first top-five win since 1981

UNCASVILLE, Conn. -- San Francisco shocked No. 4 Virginia on Friday, scoring the biggest upset of the young college basketball season and the program's biggest win in decades.

Jamaree Bouyea scored 19 points, and the Dons used a late 8-0 run to beat the Cavaliers 61-60 in the Homelight Classic, part of the "Bubbleville" event at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut.

USF's last win against a top-5 team was on Dec. 29, 1981, when it beat No. 2 Wichita State 84-74.

Khalil Shabazz added 14 points and Taavi Jurkatamm had two big 3-pointers in the second half for USF, which is 2-1 and was playing its third game in three days.

"For us to be able to compete like this on a national stage, on national TV, against one of the winningest programs in the country, this is a big, big step for our program," said Todd Golden, the Dons' 35-year-old coach.

The type of ball Virginia plays (pack line defense) makes this possible the same way they were the first #1 seed to lose in the NCAA

You knew it would be only a matter of time before Brown started making noise at Pine Bluff. They ain't flying under the radar anymore

I tried to warn y’all about UAPB. Good win for UAPB and the conference.

Dawn seems to have them trending upward. Those 3s were falling last night (uncontested mostly). Ill need to see a few more games from them before I can say they are a top 4 contender like Tsu, Aamu, and Su but they are definitely not the same team from last year. They also have some pretty good size (around 6 or so ranging from 6 to 6'5). Definitely one of the biggest teams in the Swac along with Pv. Dawn stated she still has one player out that should be cleared by next week (number 23).

Troy women were the #11 ranked mid major team in the country. They are coming off of a 25-4 season last year.
Dariana Lewis got her 4th foul early in the second quarter and stayed on the court without fouling out and putting up a double double.

Did we only dress out 8 players today?
