You guys are missing my point. Magic is not those people you named nor does he look like them.

Nah. Magic got them FOLKS behind him. 2 Billionaires to be exact. The NBA would let him get involved in owning a team. I doubt he would be majority owner. But he would be the face of the franchise. Magic don't need to look like them folks. He is Hollywood. Them folks love Magic in L.A. and so does the NBA. Hell they owe him and Bird for saving their arses in 79.

Didn't I just say that you're thinking like Donald Sterling?

Seems like I'm pretty damn on point.

Now Blue, you should know by now that some of these folks think exactly like where they come from. Some of these folks refuse to realize that Magic is so popular in Los Angeles that companies are paying him to use his name as a means of attracting more business. I bet the NBA has already figured out that the Clippers franchise would rise more in value with Magic as the owner. I can tell you this, Magic is probably the luckiest dude on earth. Who would have thought a smiling no-talking Black kid from Michigan State would end up in the country's 2nd largest media market and have this much influence on people.

Magic's name only has helped them folks earn billions more.

As Magic would say, "It's Showtime!!!!!"

That's what I think as well. I don't know if he will keep his partial ownership in the Dodgers to buy the Clippers or not but I think he will just be the face as you said and own part of the team. Magic owning part of the Clippers? That's a Hollywood story within itself while the Lakers will be down for as long as Kobe is on the team and in the picture.

I would love to see it. Remember, Magic sold his interest in Starbucks, The Lakers, the Sparks, FatBurgers, etc for resources to purchase the Dodgers. Magic may not have the money to invest.

Man Magic still owns 31 burger kings, 13 24 hour fitness gyms, a few movie theaters, has 51% interest in sodexo one of the largest food services companies in the world, a TGI friday's, plus a partnership with best buy to name a few. He has the money.......

Watch how you talk to Donald Sterling nah

I tried to tell y'all this wouldn't change him. This "lifetime ban" is meaningless too. It doesn't hurt Sterling at all.

It may not hurt Sterlingfinancially, since he has more money than he can spend, but his reputation and his family's reputation has been smeared on a worldwide level.
This same man who hates Black people, who called them enemies just allowed the very folks he hates to band together and gain unprecedented power and solidarity against future racists like him to never rear their ugly heads again for fear of the same kind of retribution.
Sterling in a sense galvanized the less powerful and brought them together and made them more powerful.

Too many eyes were watching this for him not to. And the guy having a track record of this behavior only made it easier. The NBA has made it clear that they will not tolerate racism and homophobia.

The real reason the NBA came down so hard was because the NBA Players Union was trying to organize a player boycott of all games tonight. The NBA got wind of that shat and had to come down hard. The Clippers were already prepared to boycott, but the players union wanted all teams to participate. That would have mucked the NBA real bad given the television contracts, scheduling, etc.

The players did it masterfully. They put the ball, figuratively, in the NBA's court and waited to see what the league was going to do.

I just thought about something. What if the owner doesn't want to sell to Magic or any other minority? He might not want to see a black own his old team. Does he not have say so over who purchases the franchise.

The plan was set, the product of a 30-minute players meeting.

The Warriors were going to go through pre-game warm-ups and take part in the national anthem and starting line-up introductions. They were going to take the floor for the jump ball, dapping up the Clippers players as is customary before games.

Then once the ball was in the air, they were just going to walk off. All 15 of them.

“It would have been our only chance to make a statement in front of the biggest audience that we weren’t going to accept anything but the maximum punishment,” Curry said. “We would deal with the consequences later but we were not going to play.”

Yes, like I said earlier the NBA was forced to make this move by the players. If that boycott had taken place the shat would have totally hit the fan.

The NBA were forced to make this move because the league could not ignore this transgression. They could ignore the housing discrimination lawsuits. They could ignore the suit filed by Elign Baylor. Nobody cared about those cases. Too many people, sponsors, media and players cared about Sterling's words.

Once the money was threatened, then Sterling had to be dealt with.

The people backing Magic has approximately $200 billion. Bluedog and myself was dead on in the last thread. Folks on here are going to realize that Magic's name alone sells big time in Los Angeles. Moves like this makes me want to move back to Los Angeles.

“This is 100 percent Magic’s plan,” a league official intimately involved in the buying and selling of franchises told Yahoo Sports. As an exit strategy, Sterling could walk away with a $1 billion-plus sales price for his franchise, and a final act of goodwill to soften his exile into the sports netherworld. Sterling will be reviled forever, but he has to understand clearing the way for Magic Johnson and the $200 billion-plus group backing him could be a decent farewell punctuating a most indecent ownership tenure. Sterling made Magic Johnson a part of those hideous audio tapes that have started to crumble his Clippers ownership, and here’s the old man’s way to make it right. As referenced above, Magic is currently part of the ownership group of the Los Angeles Dodgers, who have become significant spenders since being taken over in 2013, as evidenced by their payroll exceeding $230 million for the 2014 MLB season.
