Clinton wins Ohio in a landslide

At last count, she was up by atleast 200k votes.

Clinton wins Ohio

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton threw up a roadblock to Sen. Barack Obama?s path to the Democratic presidential nomination by winning the giant Ohio primary, NBC News projected Tuesday night.

Clinton, D-N.Y., and Obama, D-Ill., split the smaller Rhode Island and Vermont primaries, according to NBC News, leaving Democrats to wait for Texas, the second big prize of the night, to provide clarity to the tight campaign. Results from Texas remained too close to call Tuesday night, NBC News projected.

Yeah, she ripped Ohio to shreds! Rhode Island is also hers. Texas is tit for tat between the two. Very close!

CNN had Hilary down by 150k votes in the early results. She has erased Obama's lead and is up by 45k votes. She will once gain win the big states. Obama has yet to win one.

Yeah, I saw that. Right now, she seems to be pulling off in Texas. But we will see what happens, because those huge metro areas still have alot of reporting to do.

Jag4life, just relax. I know you probably a bit nervous right now. But yeah, you're right...she probably won't win more delegates, but I believe they will probably be close in the numbers awarded. Still got a long way to go, so we'll see what happens.

Friend --

We may not know the final outcome of today's voting until morning, but the results so far make one thing clear.

When the dust settles from today's contests, we will maintain our substantial lead in delegates. And thanks to millions of people standing for change, we will keep adding delegates and capture the Democratic nomination.

We knew from the day we began this journey that the road would be long. And we knew what we were up against.

We knew that the closer we got to the change we seek, the more we'd see of the politics we're trying to end -- the attacks and distortions that try to distract us from the issues that matter to people's lives, the stunts and the tactics that ask us to fear instead of hope.

But this time -- this year -- it will not work. The challenges are too great. The stakes are too high.

Americans need real change.

In the coming weeks, we will begin a great debate about the future of this country with a man who has served it bravely and loves it dearly. And we will offer two very different visions of the America we see in the twenty-first century.

John McCain has already dismissed our call for change as eloquent but empty.

But he should know that it's a call that did not begin with my words. It's the resounding call from every corner of this country, from first-time voters and lifelong cynics, from Democrats and Republicans alike.

And together you and I are going to grow this movement to deliver that change in November.

Thank you,

Barack

It's a pretty incredible feeling, isn't it? After our victories tonight we have the momentum, thanks to your will, determination, and hard work.

Some people were ready to count us out. But you and I proved them wrong, just as we have every time they tried to declare this race over prematurely. And we're going to keep showing them exactly what we can do.

We're going to do it for everyone across America who's been counted out -- but refused to be knocked out. For everyone who's stumbled -- but stood right back up. And for everyone who works hard -- but never gives up.

I hope you enjoy our victories tonight as much as I am. We won this one together, and that makes it that much better. Thank you so very much for all you have done for our campaign. Let's build on this remarkable momentum.

Thank you for everything you did to make this night possible.

All the best,
Hillary

Congrads to the "white snake" and her supporters on the win, but unfortunately she didnt win by the margin she needed.

?This was her last, best chance to significantly close the gap in pledged delegates,? Mr. Burton said of Mrs. Clinton, who began the night with about 50 fewer pledged delegates and 100 fewer over all. ?They have failed.?

?The great irony is, she is now the ?hope? candidate ? she can only hope to catch some breaks and catch Obama stumbling,? Mr. Gerstein said.

She Lives!
Clinton has come back, but has she come back far enough?

But what exactly did Clinton win? The Democratic race has come down to a contest of numbers versus narrative. The numbers are on Barack Obama's side. Clinton won three of four primary contests but did little, or perhaps nothing, to eat into Obama's pledged-delegate lead of more than 100. Barring a cataclysmic event, Clinton isn't going to take the delegate lead from Obama, which means he can still make the case that he is the candidate of the people. He will argue that the 800-odd superdelegates who will determine either candidate's victory should side with the voters. When Georgia superdelegate Rep. John Lewis this week switched from supporting Clinton to Obama, he said he wanted to be with the people and on the right side of history. Obama will bank on the fact that the party of voting rights is not going to overthrow the will of the people to deny the nomination to the first African-American candidate.

I understand you feelings GUD but Texas has to take a huge part of that blame for having such a mess up primary.

Hell I know we're backwards here about a lot of things, but thank God this isn't one of them.

Ohio ran out of ballots at some polling places, asked people to wait and/or come back, had people standing in line while the polls were closing, ask to have the polls remain open in some areas.......................

One would think that issues like this would be anticipated and worked out prior to the vote given the high interest in this election and given the problems we had here four years ago. There were a lot of repubs who wanted to cross-over and vote. Many of them were affected by this as well as some in the urban areas.

This is a major concern that should be addressed and fixed now, prior to the fall election regardless of who gets the nomination. For a "progressive" state, Ohio sure seems to get it backwards for elections.

Regards.

That makes you think that the local democratic party had the old okie doke on doesn't it?

At my precinct we normally have three commissioners (AC) working plus a commissioner in charge (HC), but for some unknown reason there were only two AC.

When I asked why I was told that it was some Louisiana law. (which I ain't buying) When I have the time I'm going to give Cleo a called and find out for sure.

We made copies of the sheet!!!! Hillary staff person was asking that we allow folks to take the sheet outside since the line was so long..... We were like ummmmm you know damn well you cannot do this... Ole boy was trying to set us up last night... My mom told me that I needed to calm down......

He also asked us after every one had caucus if we would allow him to have their names and addresses (Hillary 3%) so that they could call and THANK THEM!!!!! I thought GUD was on his arse those old folks working with me HAD A FIT AND LAID INTO THAT MF..... He then stated he was just joking and this lady that had to be every bit of 75 got him.... She was like why are you in here trying to MESS our Precint up with this NONSENSE....... I guess he is one of those who think we are STUPID!!!! bruh we went to election training just like you...... He had his cell phone on and I was like bruh surely you are not recording us... That MF said "OH NO" I was just sending a text message and I was like sir you cannot have that on in here.... DAMN SHAME DAMN SHAME

Friend --

Our projections show the most likely outcome of yesterday's elections will be that Hillary Clinton gained 187 delegates, and we gained 183.

That's a net gain of 4 delegates out of more than 370 delegates available from all the states that voted.

For comparison, that's less than half our net gain of 9 delegates from the District of Columbia alone. It's also less than our net gain of 8 from Nebraska, or 12 from Washington State. And it's considerably less than our net gain of 33 delegates from Georgia.

The task for the Clinton campaign yesterday was clear. In order to have a plausible path to the nomination, they needed to score huge delegate victories and cut into our lead.

They failed.

It's clear, though, that Senator Clinton wants to continue an increasingly desperate, increasingly negative -- and increasingly expensive -- campaign to tear us down.

That's her decision. But it's not stopping John McCain, who clinched the Republican nomination last night, from going on the offensive. He's already made news attacking Barack, and that will only become more frequent in the coming days.

Right now, it's essential for every single supporter of Barack Obama to step up and help fight this two-front battle. In the face of attacks from Hillary Clinton and John McCain, we need to be ready to take them on.

The chatter among pundits may have gotten better for the Clinton campaign after last night, but by failing to cut into our lead, the math -- and their chances of winning -- got considerably worse.

Today, we still have a lead of more than 150 delegates, and there are only 611 pledged delegates left to win in the upcoming contests.

By a week from today, we will have competed in Wyoming and Mississippi. Two more states and 45 more delegates will be off the table.

But if Senator Clinton wants to continue this, let's show that we're ready.

This nomination process is an opportunity to decide what our party needs to stand for in this election.

We can either take on John McCain with a candidate who's already united Republicans and Independents against us, or we can do it with a campaign that's united Americans from all parties around a common purpose.

We can debate John McCain about who can clean up Washington by nominating a candidate who's taken more money from lobbyists than he has, or we can do it with a campaign that hasn't taken a dime of their money because we've been funded by you.

We can present the American people with a candidate who stood shoulder-to-shoulder with McCain on the worst foreign policy disaster of our generation, and agrees with him that George Bush deserves the benefit of the doubt on Iran, or we can nominate someone who opposed the war in Iraq from the beginning and will not support a march to war with Iran.

John McCain may have a long history of straight talk and independent thinking, but he has made the decision in this campaign to offer four more years of the very same policies that have failed us for the last eight.

We need a Democratic candidate who will present the starkest contrast to those failed policies of the past.

And that candidate is Barack Obama.

Dear Friend,

We defied the odds last night -- yes, WE -- and with our stunning victories, the momentum is now all on our side. We're going on, we're going strong, and we're going all the way.

Against all the odds, facing an opponent with more momentum and twice as many ads on the air, you kept working, giving, and believing. And that hard work is going to put us in the White House.

We put everything on the line for these wins, and now it's time to put our hard-earned momentum to work. Without skipping a beat, we need to match the Obama campaign's effort in Pennsylvania -- our next big contest -- and that means I am relying on you again. We need $3 million in the next 24 hours to ramp up our efforts immediately.

Contribute now to help us reach $3 million in 24 hours.

Millions of Americans have yet to speak. In states like Wyoming, Mississippi, and Pennsylvania, people are watching this campaign and want their voices to count. It's up to us to give them that chance.

That means keeping this race competitive. Thanks to you, we cut his four-to-one advertising advantage in half in March 4 states. Now our next step is to quickly replenish our resources. We don't intend to play catch-up with the Obama campaign.

With your help, we're opening volunteer headquarters all across the state of Pennsylvania before the week is out. We will launch a campaign ready, willing, and able to reach out to voters all across a state that now finds itself at the absolute center of the 2008 campaign.

Help us kick off our Pennsylvania campaign by reaching $3 million in the next 24 hours.

Contribute now to help us reach $3 million in 24 hours.

This nation is coming back, and so is this campaign.

The speed and energy with which we take advantage of our regained momentum is up to you. Thank you for being there for me. I promise in the White House, I will be there for you every day.

Sincerely,

Hillary Rodham Clinton

You Hillary Clinton supporters can thank and let me count them...

1. John McCain
2. President Bush
3. Ralph Nader
4. H. Clinton
5. and probably the most importantly RUSH LIMBAUGH and SEAN HANNITY for that win in Texas :swink:

if H. Clinton wants to drag the party down and make the whole party lose in November than be my guest...because if she continues to try to get Florida/Michigan and the SuperDelegates all to support her to win this nomination...we can all say hello to President.....

John McCain

Brave, your post are usually on point but you are way off with this one. Before Rush opened his big mouth, Clinton had a double digit lead in TX. The question was could Obama catch up and beat her. He did close the gap but Clinton still won by 100k votes, at least for the primary. Why should Clinton quit? She is winning all the pro-Democratic states, which are the heart and soul of the party. What does that tell you? Should the SuperDelegates cast their votes based on the state of Utah or Alabama? or the base of the party? That's the Million Dollar question.

Styles this is all I have to say.

She only won Texas by 100k...her late breaking votes increased yesterday to almost around 60% (58 to be exact). She won the elderly by up to 65 &70% yesterday. I base my statements on facts and looking at reality. I stated that it would be hard for Obama to win either of those states and that was proven right. Even when some Obama supporters jumped on me as being doom and gloom man...I'm just a realist. And when I read and constantly hear on the radio those guys urging voters to do this..it is real.

From FoxNews:

?? INGRAHAM: Rush, I understand that the Rush Limbaugh audience is mobilizing in Texas for Hillary. Am I hearing that right?

RUSH LIMBAUGH, RADIO TALK SHOW HOST: I don?t know if the audience is mobilizing or not. I am urging people ? I am using a phrase ? the Republicans ? our nominee is chosen. It?s John McCain.

Texas is open. And I want Hillary to stay in this, Laura. This is too good a soap opera. We need Barack Obama bloodied up politically, and it?s obvious that the Republicans are not going to do it and don?t have the stomach for it.

As you probably know, we?re getting all kinds of memos from the RNC saying not to be critical there. Mark MacKinnon of McCain?s campaign says he?ll quit if they get critical over Obama.

This is the presidency of the United States you?re talking about. I want our party to win. I want the Democrats to lose. They?re in the midst of tearing themselves apart right now. It is fascinating to watch, and it?s all going to stop if Hillary loses.

So yes, I?m asking to cross over and, if they can stomach it ? I know it?s a difficult thing to do to vote for a Clinton ? but it will sustain this soap opera, and it?s something I think we need. It would be fun, too.

INGRAHAM: I mean, Rush, Bill and Hillary. Very strange bedfellows. I mean, I?ve never heard of anything like that? ?

But Brave, Rush was totally against McCain and blasted him everyday but McCain still easily won. Rush has no influence. Don't give that BUM no credit.
