Have you guys seen the commercial where Snoop is pitching the Chrysler discount program? What are your thoughts?

Hip-Hop Argot Meets Corporate Cant, All to Sell Chryslers

The former chairman of Chrysler, Lee A. Iacocca, has been called a lot of things in his time, but Mocha Cocca and I-ka-zizzle are new.

The nicknames come from Snoop Dogg - Mr. Iacocca's new sidekick in a Chrysler commercial that starts Saturday. Mr. Iacocca, 80, is Chrysler's most famous retiree and has been reprising his role as company pitchman.

Snoop Dogg, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, is arguably Chrysler's most famous enthusiast. Last year, the rapper, actor, car buff and sometime pornographer left a voice mail at Chrysler's West Coast office demanding the new Chrysler 300 sedan. The 300C he later received is black with tinted windows.

Now Chrysler is pairing the two in a commercial by the BBDO division of Omnicom Group aimed in part at overcoming Mr. Iacocca's demographic limitations. The commercial features the two men riding in a blue golf cart with spinning wheel rims and is the latest promotion touting Chrysler's employee discount offer on many 2005 models.

"It's a great way to continue to break through the clutter," said Suraya DaSante, a spokeswoman for the Chrysler Group, a division of DaimlerChrysler, of the commercial. "Snoop is a hip-hop icon, a lot of people know him and recognize him, so it's a fun complement to Lee."

Yep ........I saw something on it in USATODAY a few weeks ago. They had a picture of Lee and Snoop riding in Snoops "custom" golf cart. :D

Lee ain't stupid. It's all about marketing in areas that have been overlooked. Wether you like it or not, RAP makes a lot of "product" move off the shelf.

He know that the "kid's" of today will buy stuff that they see people like Snoop driving. The same way Snoop got that deal with Caddy is the same way he got that 300.
 

If a brother is getting paid legally I?m happy for him. It was once a time when we couldn't get on TV. Now we complain every time we see each other on the TV.
 
Haven't seen the commercial yet, I don't think...but, everyone's talking about it. Good for Snoop. :tup:

Do any of you remember when this kid of stuff was Taboo in Hip-hop????

10 years ago if a rapper would have done this he would be a "sell-out".

The bills they have to pay are rediculous in the first place! Yeah I saw the commercial. I was almost offended. "Now everyone can get a good deal" What the hell is he trying to say snoop is a translator or something....Fug that! :splat:

Why are you almost offended? Hell just like Icazizzle I need a translator to help me out with some of the things the rappers are saying.

Not a question of price ...........................It's a question of being SMART or being STUPID. :look:

All the people that call someone a sellout because they may do a comercial like this are the same ones that won't lift 1 DAMM FINGER when that "keep it real rapper" falls on hard times and have bills to pay. :lecture:

BUT ......................THEY KEPT IT REAL....... :nod2:
And as Ice Cube said about this ......................."YOU WILL BE REAL BROKE IN THE END". :nod2:

He say's that in all the commercials in this series CARAMELDIZZLE. :lol:
