Cell Phones

After reading Xhale's thread about calltones, I got to thinking that I have had the same cell # for 9 years now. I got my first cell phone back in 95.

How long have you had your current cell# and when did you first get cellular service?

I think it was 96 for me and I had one of those flip joints with the antenna. The service was through Mobile com in Jackson,Ms. I then upgraded to that Nokia Unit with the removable face plate. Got that one through SUN COM.

Moved over to Sprint in 2001(Radio Shack )where I got the free phone(Samsung Flip). I was with them cats until June 2005(Roaming Fees)Bastards. I moved over to Cingular after that.

I have a Samsung Flip phone and it's the 4th phone I've had in a year. I also have a Nextel for work. I change phones everytime I see one I like and can afford at the time.

i got my first cell service my freshman year in college in 1997. it was with GTE Wireless aka Verizon.

i have gone through God only knows how many numbers, because i have to switch it up. i know folks are like, "well how people suppose to get in touch if you change numbers." well my thing is if you are important enough to me, i'll keep up with you. i've had service with everyone(Bellsouth aka Cingular aka AT&T, Sprint,Powertel aka VoiceStream aka Tmobile, back to Cingular and now back to Sprint...:emlaugh:) except Alltel and the random bootlegg ones, like Corr, Boost, etc.

GTE and Bellsouth were phones in my mommys name, and i had to take over my own plan, so that initated the first switch. the reason i left Sprint the first time was because they didn't have any towers and my phone kept going out on the yard. so i went with Powertel, i left after they became Tmobile because they were the only carrier that my job did not offer discounts to, i would've gone back to Sprint then but my SO was with Cingular. after my SO and i called it quits, i was like, why the hell am i with Cingular, and i changed back to Sprint. i think i'm going to stay with them since i get free incoming.

I started off with Cellular one back in 95. Had one of them slate grey flip phones. kept that until early 98. I switched over to Eatel PCS. Was one of their first customers. Sprint was not in the Baton Rouge market at that time, but Eatel used their network outside of BR. Eatel then sold their PCS service to Sprint in 2000. Been with them ever since.

I had PrimeCo service back in 1998. They're Verizon now.
I have two phones now. One that's been with Cingular since 2001 and the other with Centennial since 2007.

My first cell phone was in 1996.

I have 3 cell phones.

My treo 700 was acquired in March
The Jackson Flip Phone (Nokia) was gotten in Nov. 2005 (soon to be upgraded)
The Out of town Flip Phone (LG) was received in Aug of 2006.

Obtained cellular service in 1992 with Cellular One with the phone installed in my Jeep. Then in 1994 I switched to the mobile phone and Cellular One sold sold to Bell South and my number changed then to the present number; the phone was a Nokia. Went through several upgrades with Nokias and then in 2003 changed to a Samsung and HATED IT. Went back to a Motorola, and then in 2005, received the Pink Motorola Razr I have now for a birthday present. In February 2007, I bought a Treo and kept it 14 hours, took it back, didn't like it at all.

Next week, I'm buying an iPhone. ;)

I've had the same number and service (Primeco/Verizon) since I got my own phone in 2000. Now I have an additional phone on my plan, I have no idea what the number is.

I got my 1st cell phone in 1998. It was with Wilcom Cellular. I kept it for almost a year but that was when I discovered exactly what roaming was. I did too much traveling for a "local" plan. In 2000 I started working for Alltel and I got a phone for me , 1 for my mom, and 1 for my brother. I paid those bills even after I left Montgomery and kept the phone in Atlanta. I kept them until 2003 when my brother ran up a $400 bill that I had to pay. I cut those off and went w/o a cell phone for a yr and got a phone with Verizon in 2004. I've had this number since March 2003. I now have my personal Verizon phone and my work Nextel phone.

I don't know how many different phones I've run through. I know I hate I damaged my last phone (Blackberry 7100g). Now I got a Treo 680, but I miss that Blackberry. Getting emails was so much better.

Here is my first phone. Plan had like 120 minutes for $24.99. Only used it for super short calls.

As soon as I got it I wanted to throw it away because everyone had it. My kids play with it now and it still looks new.

Got my first one around '99-'00. And I've had the same number for 3 years now, since I moved to Atlanta. I don't switch up phones too often, because the only thing I really care about is that it works. And if it works, I can hold on to the same phone for years, unless I can get a free upgrade.

That was my first phone also in 1995 or '96 with Cellular One in Houston. I switched to Sprint in the late 90s. When I moved to GA I switched to Cingular and I've been with them since. I don't change phones often. In fact, I have been using the same phone for about 4 years. It works so I see no reason to upgrade.

I've had a cell phone since 98 (Nextel), but that was a company phone, and I got my personal celly (Verizon) in 02, and I've had the same number since. I carry 2 phones with me everyday, my personal, and work phone.

NICE

I don't rememeber when I got a phone, maybe 98 or 99. But I have changed my number once, that was just before I moved to VA. But I still have a FL cell number. No need to change it at this point. It is the number that everyone has, and uses....so I will keep it. And besides, long distance is free, so no need to get a new number.

...this was my first phone also. Mann I had pimped it out and changed the cover of it to that woodgrain; couldn tell me NUTHIN!

But I've had my phone since 2001. Same number, same phone company. From Powertel to Voice Stream to T-Mobile

I've had the same number since 1998. Started with Bell South then they become AT&T then Cingular and now AT&T again. I think...

I?ve been with two companies Sprint and AT&T. I started with Sprint in 2000 but change to AT&T (Cingular) when I moved from Baton Rouge in 2004. Sprint is not a good carrier if you live in a rural area. I am a gadget geek and I love the latest thing or smart phones. My first smart phone was a Sprint 300 by LG. I loved that phone, however it just became obsolete. I?ve had several others, but I presently have a Cingular 8125 for a year now. I have not got on the iPhone frenzy yet because I prefer Window mobile/Pocket PC.

Ahhhh the Nokia 918. That was my 1st one. A lot of people kept that phone for a long time. When I worked for Alltel people did NOT want to give that phone up.
