Bringing Whitney Houston Back

Let me ask y'all something. Y'all acting like when folks get over 30 they are washed up and done. Now...if baby boomers are outnumbering the young folks...and baby boomer got the moolah...and baby boomers will actually BUY what they want versus downloading and bootlegging...why wouldn't someone they enjoyed for years...get their moolah?

I say compare Whitney's record sales and awards against those who you feel are young competitors...who stacks up in her ranks? I mean, chick ain't did nothing in more than 15 years right? She racked up all these in her hot 15 years. Some of those listed have been out there 15 or more years...The only one with even a pin drop would be Alicia Keys. The rest...distant.

And not relevant? To who? She is relevant to a much larger demographic--age, sex, income level-- than these pop kiddies y'all naming. Believe that.

Correction...Whitney had one of the greatest voices of last century. Crack cocaine and Newport cigarettes have destroyed that great instrument that she once owned. No one is saying that once you're over 30, that you no longer can sell records. We're saying that "cracky" people just can't capture the same fame that they once had. I'm sure she'll have sellout shows. Half of the people will be there because they are true fans...the other half will be there to see the train wreck waiting to happen.

Y'all shitting me. Whitney has one of the greatest voices of this and last century. I tell you what, you let Whitney go "duet" with any of those singers listed and i guarantee, she'll spank that ass without trying just like she does with all the rest of the singers that duet with her. They leaned back, working like shit, and she ain't even breathing hard.

IF she had a reason to bomb, it would have to be from bad marketing (which I sincerely doubt), but I got my money on this girl. Read it, store it in your blackberry and text it to whomever. Whitney IS THE standard. She WILL go multiplatinum. If she tours, she WILL sell out.

Mary J who??? Now that's a chick I never thought could truly sing. Just had to catch her on the right day.

I was never a HUGE Whitney fan, but I admired her God given talent and the fact that her voice was as great as Miles on the trumpet. Good luck to her, but I'll pass this go round.

She turned folks against her clowning and getting high on that TV show in front of her kids. It is one thing to knock those who have fallen, it is another thing to turn away from those who have put their shame on national tv for all to glory in.

And this is why I think she will sell a whole lot of records and sell out arenas. America as well as the World loves a come back. Take Michael Jackson for instance. He hasn't recorded since like 2000 or 2001 and a few days ago he announced a 50 day show at the O2 arena and all 50 shows are sold out already. The tickets were going at 40,000 per hour. Michael Jackson don't sound like he did in 1970, 1982, or 2000 and he's been labeled a child molester, crazy, and every other name you can think of but people still remember what he use to be.

Who cares about her voice? Aretha had a better voice than 90% of female artists that came after her.....what if she came out with something now with the same voice?

BOMB.......she can have the best voice today, but she ain't RELEVANT!!!

~_________~

I think Aretha did well even when she was older than Whitney. I know in the mid to late 90's she was winning grammy's with "A Rose is Still a Rose" and the album sold well.
