Brett Farve will sign today.. sources say

Favre to the Vikings?

Oh wow....

WCCO-TV is reporting that a high-level source with the Minnesota Vikings tells the station's Mark Rosen that quarterback Brett Favre is expected to sign with the team today.

Favre is on currently on his way to Minneapolis and is expected to sign with the team this afternoon, the station adding, citing its source.

UPDATED ---
This article is now posted on startribune.com:

Brett Favre, it seems, will be a Viking after all.

A Hattiesburg television station reported today that Favre boarded a plane this morning at the Hattiesburg Laurel Regional Airport. The plane was headed for St. Paul. Sources said Favre boarded by himself and commented, "We may know something by dinner."

A source also told the Star Tribune that Favre is headed to Minnesota.

Favre had informed the Vikings late last month that he had decided to remain retired and would not play for the team in 2009. The longtime Green Bay Packers quarterback had re-retired last February after a year with the Jets but then spent the spring and summer considering a return to the NFL with the Vikings.

It now appears that will happen.

It truly amazes me how NFL teams allow this man to hold them hostage. Teams have bent over backwards for this dude.....for what, I don't know.

His HEART truly couldnt be in each team that he plays for season after season......Give it a rest Brett:tdown::tdown:

A source close to Brett Favre said the quarterback, pending a physical, will sign a contract with the Minnesota Vikings for between $10 million to $12 million, according to ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen.

Vikings coach Brad Childress confirmed in an e-mail to The Associated Press Tuesday morning that Favre was traveling from Mississippi to meet with the team.

Asked if the plan was to sign Favre on Tuesday, Childress replied: "In a perfect world."

Favre, a longtime star in Green Bay, came out of retirement last season to play for the Jets. He retired again, only to then entertain the idea of joining the Vikings. Last month, Childress said the quarterback would stay retired.

The pronouncement now appears to be premature.

According to Mortensen, the Vikings had sent their private plane to Hattiesburg, Miss., and left with Favre on it at 10 a.m. ET. The plane is expected to land in Minneapolis at about noon ET; Favre is expected to take a physical later Tuesday.

They really have no faith in TJack... wow...

Nope they don't. He looked terrible out there against Indy. He looked no better than JD Booty who is in his second year. Now I have been one of his biggest supporters but he almost got Jaymar Johnson hung out to dry on one of his throws. I think TJack didn't get any proper guidance here and really needed to be on a team with a veteran Qb and with good QB coaching. Childress aint that smart and neither is the OC Darrell Bevel. Both are garbage....but TJack aint improved either. If Favre signs, I expect them to cut him or Booty. Probably they will cut TJack and let Sage be the backup.

The owner needs a new stadium and he knows the fans have turned on TJack and Favre will provide the boost in mentality around here to get the stadium deal done. The Vikings are about to be the only tennant in the Metrodome since the U of Minnesota has built their own stadium back on campus and it opens this Fall and the Twins are playing their last season right now in there as the new Target Field is almost ready to go and will be open in 2010. So the ownership here has to appease the fans.....ie.....the taxpayers. So this Favre move is two fold... one to get a better Qb in their mind and one that the fans will accept and two, they know he will generate excitement around here as they think a QB is the final piece of the puzzle.

Now I don't think Favre is still a good QB. But he is better than what they have. Fans were even blogging to go sign Vick. LOL. So I know these folks have no faith in Sage or TJ. Plus the veterans aint really feeling TJack either as a Qb. I don't think he has that take charge attitude that he needs. Folks like Pat Williams was publically calling him out on the off season. Unfortunately I think his run with the Vikes will come to an end either before the season or at the end. Childress job is on the line and he traded up for TJ so folks are on him about the decision.

WOW... John Clayton JUST said that he thought TJack would beat out Sage for the starting job. This was AFTER the 1st preseason game.

I really think this says they have no faith in Sage. He's the one they brought in as a Free Agent to possibly take over. People say TJack isn't smart enough, but anyone who watched Houston last season will tell you Sage ain't the brightest bulb in the room either.

Note. This comes from a person who actually liked Brett Farve during his career.

I question whether the Childress-Farve "marriage" will be a good one. Childress is a relatively conservative coach. Farve is not a conservative quarterback. He takes risks though he is not he quarterback he was physically years ago. Farve's mentality will not change overnight. He is who he is at quarterback. He feels like he can make any throw and will try to do so. Frankly, I would not be surprised if he throws over 12 interceptions this season.

I was wondering what your viewpoint would be on this especially since I have only been to the Twin Cities once since the late '70s. (It has been that long.) However, I am sure that the passion for the Vikings has not changed.

Now, I will not say that Jackson has played like Steve McNair or Doug Williams, who was the quarterback for Tampa Bay when they made their first two playoff appearances. (Don't forget about what Doug did in Tampa.) However, he did play in the last four games of last season and threw for eight touchdowns and one interception while the Vikes won the division.

I make mention of that because I think he has the ability. I wonder if he was working hard enough which was what Pat Williams talked about in the off season. Or I wonder about the coaching especially if it is the coach's job to make the player better. I have to think that Jackson is smart enough to work hard in order to keep his position.

It has been my opinion for a while that Jackson should go to another team especially if they have more of a vertical offense.

I think that Clayton is basing a lot on what he has seen at practice

BTW I remember Sage's play in Houston last season. I was surprised that Minnesota traded for him.

All farve need is one good hit and he will hang it up for good.
He's not the first QB that couldn't give it up on his own.

Where is this guy right now.
Wonder if he can still convince QB's to quit.

LOL@Frat. Aeneas is patiently waiting for his call from the NFL HOF so he can join other SWAC legends. But you are right. He shole sent Steve Young to retirement with that hit.

A Viking WR said that T Jack just isnt dedicated to becoming better. He Never wants to get in extra work after practice or before. He said that Tjack isnt doing anything that is not required of him. He bascily goes to meetings, goes to Practice, and goes homes.. He wont get ahead like That.

That may be why they are bringing in Brett for one year.. This is with out a doubt Brett Favre last year... 10 Mill to train their soon to be starter
"T Jack" Brett will open this kids eyes at least this is what The Vikes are hoping for....

That's the angle most of you are missing..

Nah......don't bet on that. Brett aint one to teach Qbs. Plus he is a gunslinger type that you really do not want your young Qb to mimic. One of the reasons McCarthy got tired of him in GB. It widely known that Brett didn't try to help Rodgers at all there. Not to mention Childress is trying to save his job here and the fans up here have turned on TJack and Childress knows he can't run him out there anymore. The veteran players echo the same thing Stroke said. You can tell they don't have confidence in Jackson. I talk to one Viking in particular pretty regularly.

Jackson will either get let go before the season or soon afterwards. And if the Brett Favre experiment goes badly.....then expect Childress arse to be fired immediately. Because the only man disliked more than TJack around here is Brad Childress. The fans absolutely hate him here. The nickname for TJack here has gone to TJoke......it aint pretty up this way Juke.
