I am not happy about the situation at Grambling State University with the problems between the football team and the administration. As a fan of football with fond memories of Eddie Robinson it sickens me to see such a historic program at such depths. To all of the GSU faithful..."this too shall pass!" I honestly think that this may in fact be the catalyst that will in a short period of time produce good team in the future at Gram as well as fellow institutions in the SWAC.

If I were an athlete at Tech, ULM, Northwestern and not on the 1st or 2nd string; then at this point I would strongly be considering making a transfer to a program where I could make an immediate impact and get some playing time. (the next coach at GSU can use these words...and I won't even charge him)

It's a shame and travesty what is going on at the moment. But this may actually bring some quality athletes AND coaches back to our programs!
 



Per Twitter, the football team wants the mold and mildew removed from the locker room, the weight room ventilated...And they want Dr. Pogue fired, or resign.

I still say I am not in agreement with what the football team at GSU has done.
 
Gram can pull their scholarships. I think that is justifiable. Will they be willing to cut the entire team and start from scratch?

Might as well as a new head coach why would u want those kids on your team....I do expect Grambling to bounce back or take a HARD look at dropping down a level to D2 status!
 
We will be having a blue and white game, hc will go as planned. Refunds will be offered. Gram forfeits, game will not be made up.
 
Y'all still think "pulling" the scholarships of these players is a big deal. It's not a big deal to these players. This semester is already paid for. If drastic changes aren't made, I doubt many of them would have been back anyway. One of the articles stated that Grambling had two seniors last year and only seven seniors this year. That tells me that players have been leaving the program en masse for reasons other than graduation anyway. Pulling scholarships of these guys is not a threat at all. Going to another school or being a regular student would be a welcome change for most.
 
Well, its unfortunate for this to happen to the University(s) and I was hoping that the team would have at least played for JSU's homecoming just out of courtesy. But if the young men of the team feel that this is how they will make progress and how they will be heard, then so be it.

I know of a case where a student lost a scholarship and the school requested her parents to repay the school. It's like an investment.....Like a relocation package.

That's still not a big deal. One semester? It's not the powerful threat that many here seem to think it is.

But this stuff stemmed from Ragsdale!!! He got fired yesterday and now the "team" is requesting others get fired as well?!?!?!? How far will this go???
 
I remember some folks saying there would be a price to pay for running Broadway off in the manner that it was done............(Sowing and Reaping......)

Chico also said that there were problems at the top before he left.......
 
Im going for the offense....cox vs singleton. This will be a real game too with the boom and all. Gram should not play another gae this year. Good luck to grambling!

We'll just have to agree to disagree. When you've had enough, you've had enough. This is bigger than any football game. It got the attention of the administration, the SWAC, and national attention. It will also highlight Jindal's budget cuts. Regardless of which game they decided to do this at, there will be collateral damage. Either you hurt the side vendors in Jackson, or the side vendors in Grambling.

If you remember when I left the Comp Sci department at SU, it wasn't at the most "convenient" time either. I left right in the middle of a semester, 2 weeks after the other network admin left, and left them with nobody. I'd had enough, and when limits are reached, you really don't give a damn about how it affects others. With all the turmoil at Grambling, do you really think their football team care about the collateral damage in Jackson?
 
Welp.. This will wake All our black schools to get the proper things for these student players.. They must not know.. The players are the ones bringing money to these schools.. Wonder how this would affect the BC.. I hate to say SU will lose money and then we are in the race to win the West.. Wow.. Don't let us win out or just lose one game out of the next ones we have left.. Big money will be lost. I wonder if Friday night events will be affected.. Dumb ass board members smh.. I hope all they asses get fired

Exactly...you wanted the coach fired, they called your bluff and fired the coach, now you want somebody else fired? Thats not how it works. They are acting like Republicans...we are going to shut everything down unless you give us EVERYTHING we want. This has nothing to do with the President. They just didnt want to see JSU
