So either the AD didn’t land the guy he wanted or he sat there twiddling his thumbs knowing he was hiring him. Either scenario has put the HC in a bind. How do you participate in early signing day and you can’t officially tell people you are the HC? This month is moving fast so hopefully he can quickly interview guys for his staff and send them to recruit the players he needs for the schemes he wants to run. He may be forced to retain those who stayed. Even though this is absolutely horrible, I do hope they told him before today that he was the guy. That gives him a little breathing room.

Thank you PV for getting tired of Ashley Robinson (I remember) and sending him home. He has been around numerous hbcu programs like MVSU, DSU, PV, and Thee JSU. A man from lil ole Jackson Mississippi has cemented his prodigious legacy with a hire that has football fans across the nation in utter astonishment. I wish you much success in the future and I hope McDowell beats every team that doesn’t start with J.
 



you have to recruit what fits your university - there's no inner city talent in the Houston area so your recruiting kids with turf practice fields, 5 story schools, etc. if you spend time in Houston. You better have an out of state pipeline in your back pocket or ties to urban areas where kids will want to leave to come down in this area.

@Bewildered Man, I'm pissed!!! This was the time to make a statement hire. I was listening for a name that would make my hair stand up on the back of my neck. Hell, I was READY to buy some purple and gold PV 💜💛 paraphernalia and scream "Who ya ROOTIN FO?!?!"

And then this shit happens......Bubba. Bubba don't make my hair stand up, hell. He dont raise my eyebrows. This dat bullisht man!!! DAT BULLISHT!!!!
 
I was expecting a splash hire by PV. I did hear that McDowell wasn’t the first target, but hopefully he has what it takes to win at PV. Good luck.

It's nno bind. It's plenty of kids who are available due to schools picking up a 6th season due to Covid.

Also the Portal has plenty of talent.
 
I’m cool with Bubba surrounded by some eye raising names on the coaching staff, and a few high school coaches who been around Texas that can create a pipeline for PV in recruiting. Bubba has connections. Just work the portal and start establishing relationships with local high schools. Shouldn’t be hard considering he has been there since 2010. Texas is a fraternity as far as recruiting. If they are familiar with you , you’ll get the pick of the litter, if not , they won’t let you near their kids to recruit.

Man my HS Coach who is a College Coach now flat out told us as HS students he would not allow certain schools on campus to recruit us. Luckily TSU and PV were not on the no recruit list, but if the HS coaches are not familiar with you they will not let you on campus. Thinking back it was only two or three small schools that he wouldn’t let on campus because they screwed over some previous players. When I was in school we had a the most football players playing in college from a HS in Texas.
