WOW is ALL I can say!!! With the Auburn comeback over BAMA, and the Nevada upset of Boise State, this has GOT TO BE the Freakiest Friday in College Football History!!!

That kicker just set back all kickers a decade or so. Two of what's supposed to be gimme's....:smh:

Looks like Boise's program is going to have to start from scratch.

One game loss doesn't mean they are overrated... I feel they could beat any of the other "contenders". They simply got upset by a good Nevada Team. It seems everyone has bought into the hype that only Big Conference schools are should be in the BCS game.

Football is the most unpredictable sport in the league of sports (IMO). I've always believed that anything can happen on any given game day to any team! Don't ever believe the hype!

They choked that game away. Boise didn't know how to respond to a challenge. It had been 2 months since the VaTech game, and beating up on all of those lesser quality teams by 40+ points threw them off. It is easy to get amped to play that big game against Big BCS, but what happens when the Nevada's and Fresno's of the world rise up and give you a challenge? Every BCS national champion has had that gutcheck game near the "knock-out" part of the season where they had to overcome some adversity to keep their title hopes alive.(2010 Auburn at Alabama/ Oregon at California, 2009 Alabama at Auburn, 2008 Florida vs Alabama, 2007 LSU vs Florida, 2006 Florida vs South Carolina, you get the picture.) Unfortunately for Boise, the build up to this game was that Nevada was the last test on their schedule, and they couldn't close the deal. The question is, what bowl game will Boise end up in. Nevada is the WAC Champion and will get the top bowl for the WAC. Will Boise possibly steal a bid from a lower-level BCS team?

First of all, I fell asleep. One can imagine how I feel.

Secondly, I can hear Dr. Gordon Gee of Ohio State and Doug Stewart.

Possible quotes from them:
Gee: See what I mean Stewart: I told you so.

WOW is ALL I can say!!! With the Auburn comeback over BAMA, and the Nevada upset of Boise State, this has GOT TO BE the Freakiest Friday in College Football History!!!

I feel the same way.

These are good points. Look at what Auburn has done this year alone in some of their games.

Understand. I like to see the little David beat Goliath. (Alcorn at Mississippi State in '79 in the NIT, Southern vs. Georgia Tech in '93 in the NCAA, Prairie View at Tulane in December '97, TSU at Oregon State earlier this month-link, Butler getting to the men's final last season, all in men's basketball, Fresno State winning the national championship in baseball a few years ago) I feel that Boise State has an excellent team with a lot of players who will play on Sunday. Long before the BCS, I thought that 1-A football had a mess up way of deciding a national champion. Anyway, good points were made about Boise State's run.

BTW I am watching the CBS pre-game show with Gary Danielson and Tim Brando on Saturday. I think it will be interesting.

It probably should not have come down to the field goal kicker. Boise State had things going their way in the first half. Then again Alabama did too.

Two missed field goals doom Boise State as Nevada prevails in OT

Associated Press

RENO, Nev. -- Two missed kicks, and Boise State went from being the darling of BCS busters everywhere to just another team looking for a bowl game.

After winning 24 straight games, maybe it was just not meant to be.

.....

"We had a chance to win it," Boise State coach Chris Petersen said. "You play two evenly matched teams, it usually comes down to a couple of plays. It's tough; it probably shouldn't have come down to that."

In the space of one bad half, the Broncos (10-1, 6-1 Western Athletic Conference) most likely lost out on playing in any BCS bowl. On the verge of playing in a big game with a win, they likely will be relegated to the Humanitarian Bowl, played on their own blue field in Boise, Idaho, or the Fight Hunger Bowl in San Francisco. That's good news for TCU, which was at risk of being nudged out of an automatic BCS bid by Boise State even if it completed an unbeaten season on Saturday by beating lowly Mountain West Conference rival New Mexico.

No. 19 Nevada won't get a BCS invite, either, because that is life for schools not in automatic qualifier conferences.
But that didn't stop the overflow crowd at Mackay Stadium from celebrating the improbable win by its team, which was a 14-point underdog and had lost 10 straight games to Boise State.

.....

How did they choke? They were positioned to win... the kicker missed two makeable game winners. That's not choking...that's just bad execution down the stretch against a one loss top 20 conference rival on the road.

There's not a team out there who they can't beat...
