Cosby?s Attorney Questions Timing of Fondling Claim
Date: Monday, January 24, 2005
By: Walter Higgins, BlacAmericaWeb.com, and Associated Press

As an investigation begins into claims by a Canada woman that entertainer Bill Cosby drugged and fondled her, Cosby?s attorney and others are questioning the timing and intent behind the allegations.

The woman, reported by the Toronto Sun to be 31-year-old Andy Constand, a one-time basketball phenom at Scarborough's Albert Campbell Collegiate, was formerly an employee at Temple University, Cosby's beloved alma mater. She told police this month in her native Canada that Cosby fondled her at his suburban Philadelphia mansion in January 2004.....

If this happened to the woman...why did she wait a year to come forward? This sounds like a person trying to get some dollars.

I'm a big Cosby fan and I don't want to believe this, but I'm resonable enough to know that anything is possible.

Sexual Harrasment allegations is such a touchy situation. Damn near anyting can be turned into a sexual allegation/wrong doing.

Man, Bill is a Pimp!!

I doubt seriously, if it's true...Bill pissed some black folks off w/his comments about the black community, so it could be someone just trying to phugg him...no pun intended.

That's the FIRST thing I thought when I heard about this. He had some speaking engagements planned, and had to cancel them because of this accusation. And as far as drugging her? Get real!

:smh:

What threw me was in his first statement to the media Cosby called her an acquaintance that has some interesting connatation but i don't think he drugged her though.

New Developments in Cosby Fondling Investigation

Jan. 27, 2005 ? Investigators probing the sexual misconduct allegations made against Bill Cosby by a former Temple University employee have concluded there was sexual contact between the entertainer and the woman, but they are trying to determine whether it was consensual, a source close to the investigation has told ABC News.

osby met voluntarily with law enforcement officials Wednesday at a location outside Pennsylvania. A 31-year-old woman has accused Cosby, 67, of giving her a pill that rendered her semiconscious and fondling her at his Cheltenham Township, Pa., mansion early last year. Cosby has denied the allegations, his attorney called them "preposterous" and "bizarre."

A source close to the investigation told ABC News that Cosby's version of what happened between him and the woman and his accuser's story are similar in many ways. The dispute, the source told ABC News, is whether the contact between Cosby and the woman was consensual.

Prosecutors Could Make Decision in Two Weeks

At a news conference Wednesday, Montgomery County District Attorney Bruce L. Castor Jr. said Cosby is fully cooperating with investigators, and authorities expect to decide whether they will bring charges against him in two weeks. Castor indicated that the alleged victim's delay in coming forward and contact with the entertainer since the incident could hurt her case.

"I did hear a report that said that I had determined her testimony, her statement was credible. That is inaccurate. I haven't made any such determination one way or the other," Castor said. "He [Cosby] is presumably innocent and can come and go as he pleases. ? I think the factors such as failure to disclose in a timely manner and contacts with the alleged perpetrator after the event are factors that weigh toward Mr. Cosby."

Lawyers representing the woman making the allegations said in a statement that she is a victim of sexual assault and that her alleged encounter with the man she once considered a mentor has traumatized her.

COSBY ADMITS FONDLING HIS ACCUSER: But maintains encounter was consensual.

*Following Bill Cosby's voluntary meeting with investigators last week probing allegations of "inappropriate fondling" brought by a Canadian woman, both ABC News and "Celebrity Justice" have confirmed reports that the comedian has admitted to having sexual contact with his accuser, but that it was entirely consensual.

"We're told that Cosby, who has become a controversial figure lately due to his stern lectures on African American family values, characterized the sexual encounter as 'not intercourse,' and that it involved primarily touching," reports "CJ."

Sources also tell the show that the woman contacted Cosby months after the encounter asking him for tickets for her and her family to his performance at Casinorama, north of Toronto. According to "CJ," Cosby obliged, leaving their tickets at the Will Call window.

As previously reported, the woman worked for the Temple University women's basketball team at the time of the incident. Her lawyers tell "CJ" that Cosby gave the woman what she believed to be "herbal" pills of some sort and that she was "legally incapacitated" when she says Cosby fondled her at his mansion in suburban Philadelphia.

According to "CJ," Cosby's reps are denying that the comedian gave her any herbal pill.

The woman, who now lives in Pickering, Ontario, first went to Canadian police over two weeks ago. The case was subsequently referred to U.S. authorities. "CJ" has obtained a confidential police report stating that she went to a Philadelphia civil lawyer before contacting police -- which "CJ" says "raises the question, is the allegation about justice or money?"

yeah, I heard about this, today on morning radio....oh well, I was wrong. I just knew this was a made up story...why did ole girl wait so long to tell it? :smh: What I wanna know is, why was he doing all this in his home? um, doesn't his wife live w/him? :xeye:

Bill is gonna get reemed (sp) for this one...people are going to blast his ass. He just finished talking all that good talk, and now he's caught up...WOW. :emlaugh:

I don't believe that anything will come of it.She took too long to lodge a complaint for this to have any merit.

Same here. If she had a problem with an encounter with Cosby, why did she introduce the man to her parents and ask for tickets to one of his performances?

I wonder if sometimes people wait for people to build themselves up only to tear them down. They've hit just about every famous or influential black man so far. Next up...Will Smith and Denzel. It's only a matter of time before some tramp accuses them of something...oh yea...and Usher too.

Another one of my Bruhz has fallen from grace. :smh:

first Jesse now Bill.

Where are the riteous?

Nasty Nupe I feel you but this ain't Bill's first go round with this kinda situation
remember the girl who tried to blackmail him? Well he did admit to having an affair with her mom and then paying the mom over 100k. I think the reason this one waited a year is because Cosby was writing checks when the checks stopped, she told. On a liter note you ever notice all of Cosby women look alike light skinned with short curly hair. :shh:

It's real funny how men always blame the woman in these types of instances, as if the men involved had NOTHING to do with it. From what Bill Cosby stated, he DID have the encounter w/the woman, so I don't see why she's gotta be a tramp, hoe, slut, bytch, etc. Bill was the one married...I guess she tied his ass up and took that dyck, huh? These men need to stop putting themselves in these sorts of situations.

Typical response, though. :smh:

Bigtyme, R U saying Bill's color struck? :emlaugh:
