Biggest SWAC upsets over the years

AAMU 21 JSU 20 1995 <---AAMU was in the SIAC but beat JSU who would win the SWAC that year.

AAMU 33 SU 27 1998 <--AAMU had just moved up to 1-AA, was still in probationary period but beat SU who like JSU would go on and win the SWAC. The game itself remains the largest attended game at Crews.
I remember that 33- 27 lost. Smh! Man that game was packed!

1989 SU over JSU 21-7
1991 SU beat JSU for the 2nd of 3 straight in Jackson.
1991 Bayou Classic 3-7 SU beat Grambling 31-30 in the game the board fired Gerald Kimble the morning of the game I think.
I remember that 91 game it was j state homecoming.

I see. But let me understand? SU has the head to head match up and also more championships. I cant understand how we would put more emphasis on u guys.

You dont have more championships since JSU entered the SWAC. Until the 90s SU was a lil guy in the SWAC behind JSU, GSU, and Alcorn. You lead head to head BECAUSE you get UP for JSU....lol Look at how many 2-9 and 4-7 teams have beat or almost beat JSU... LOL

Su vs Valley 2012 which caused Stump to be reassigned
Valley vs JSU 2014 the return of Comegy as Valleys HC, b/k/a Homecoming Spoiler
JSU vs Alcorn 2014

Not our fought yall decided to join the swac late. Plus that 98-0 beating probably had something to do with u guys joining the conference. It took yall almost thirty years to play us after that. But head to head has most to do with x's and o's then getting up for yall.

Man you aint never lied. That was the real Big 3 during the SWAC glory days. SU hired Marino Casem away from us to rebuild their football program and he eventually hired Pete Richardson.

I am going to go way back.

1976
Alcorn 6
Prairie View A&M 14

This may have been PV's best team between conference titles. Alcorn had a VERY tough defense and won the conference championship. hose Alcorn defenses were THAT GOOD.

2000
Alcorn 22
Prairie View A&M 25

This game ended a long conference losing streak. Like the other game, it was played at PV. PV probably did not have any business beating Alcorn in '76. They did not have any business beating Alcorn in 2000.

That 2000 season was Alcorn's worse in our rich football history. We didn't win a single game which happened to be my last year in school. It took Johnny Thomas less than three years to destroy one of the SWAC's best football programs.

Forgot this one.

Su vs PV 2006.
Man, I was so pissed off about that game. Never in my lifetime had I even seen PV come close to beating us, and then that s--- happened. When I got on the band bus I probably complained for a good 2 hours on the way back to Baton Rouge. lol

Su vs PV 2006.

I purposely didn't mention this and wanted to see if anyone else would lol. Believe it or not, that was a HUGE turning point in the resurgence of PVAMU football. The heat + humidity + dumb offensive play calling by SU = PVAMU last minute victory.

I think JSU started out 1-2 that year and Big Daddy was all but fired UNTIL he got them rangs! He had been HC in 92, 93 and 94 and we didn't win the SWAC. 1995 was his last chance...

Fixed it for you. That heat and humidity is an excuse. Both teams are in those climates. You don't blow a lead like that because of heat and humidity. You blow a lead like that due to stupidity. LOL. Don't sugar coat it P.

And SU let you off the hook that year with a 2 point win. I think that was the only game we lost that season.

PV beating Alcorn at the time was not surprising as PV had players and were competitive during the Greg Johnson, early Larry Dorsey era as the first half was always tough....I remember it took Robert Mathis scoring himself and a two odd penalties on the goal line in 2002 to keep AAMU from losing...Dorsey beat UAPB with those good running backs in 2001 and was leading Southern in the 4th quarter that same year

hard to say if the 06 PV-SU game was an upset as PV had a defense but trouble scoring that year.....but it did look like they were better conditioned that day

Valley in 2012 was better than some thought when it was all said and done......
