Big Blow to GaTech's National Championship run

Tigerpride

THE Logical ONE
We should still win the ACC tho. We run a system where you need 2-3 GOOD QBs all the time. But we still have time to win the National Championship. Most of this team's starters are sophomores and juniors. We have only 6 seniors on scholarship. :D I hope those freshmen signal callers are ready to step up like Jaybo did last year!

Tech QB Jaybo Shaw Breaks Collarbone
Sophomore suffers clavicle fracture during Saturday's practice

Aug. 15, 2009

ATLANTA -- Georgia Tech sophomore Jaybo Shaw, the Yellow Jackets' top reserve quarterback, broke his collarbone during a scrimmage Saturday morning.

"It's really unfortunate," head coach Paul Johnson said. "Jaybo was playing really well and was having a good camp."

With limited information, Johnson estimated that Shaw could miss 6-8 weeks. Johnson did not rule out the possibility of Shaw using 2009 as a redshirt season, but the Yellow Jacket head coach said it was much too early to speculate.

Ga Tech will NEVER win another national championship.

getting your excuses in early for the FLOP, huh TP?

one FLUKE season, now back to mediocrity

Hello Humanitarian Bowl in Boise, Idaho.

:lol::lol:

I will say that Dwyer is good though.
:D

You need to change the Title to "Mythical" National Championship because The only true NCAA Division I Football National Championship is decided every year in Chattanooga, TN.

Whatever....

...and uuuum, don't forget I want a Rutgers ticket (maybe two)... :D

Dude PLEASE! We are in the ACC. I know that the world only thinks that FL State and Miami can win one from the ACC but we KEEP a good schedule and a 13-0 record is not out of reach for us (unless teams figure out that option attack....that there is really NO answer for).

Not an excuse but we REALLY need more than one capable QB. Our QBs play a major role in the offense and are very injury prone becasue they come in contact with the opposing defense more than most QBs would. Tech is one place where QBs really HAVE TO split time.

That could actually happen. Only problem is you'd run into a USC in the championship game and lose 70-0.

Mythical is being kind. The American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) National Championship Trophy (or The Coaches' Trophy) is awarded to the winner of the BCS Championship Games. So, in truth, it is simply the BCS championship.

Puff-n-Pass........

Watch out for Tevin Washington. This kid is loaded with talent. Shaw's injury will give him a chance to display his abilities.

Ya know, I am figuring that any GOOD dual threat QB would be interested in Tech. I have no doubts about PJs ability to recruit option QBs!

TP,
IMO, Ga State has lots of potential to attract some players. The school is becoming much more of a presence. And very residential. That area of downtown it is in is starting to look very much like a college town, not just in the evening, but all times of day. They will definitely get a look from some guys. (enough to be competitive at the FCS level)
But I think playing their games at the Dome will hurt their program. Those games will be a snorefest there.
Herndon Stadium at MoBrown would've been much better.

Like I said, they are gonna be Temple, Jr. Temple plays at the Linc...and uuuuum..... :smh: They might be a force at the 1-AA level tho....enough to be a season opener for Tech or UGA but they won't ever compete at the 1-A level.

Doesen't this thread belong in somebodys smack section. The ACC is 4 to 5 years away from having a team good enough to compete in the BCS title game. This conference is a bigger farce than the Big 12.

Do you just hate on all that is good in this world?

The point you are missing is that while Tech may not win the championship THIS year, Miami might. Go ACC!!!!!!!!!

If the Canes win their next two games and don't play one of those games where they lose their minds against the dogs an ponies down the stretch, they will vault into the Top 5 and back into national prominence, with about 90% of their starters being sophomores and juniors.
