Benny Hinn

As I said in the other thread... Let God handle Hinn. It is not our responsibility to critique him. As long as we study and know the word of God for ourselves, God will show us the path.

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, lean not to your own understanding. In all thy ways follow him, and he shall direct your path.

I totally concur.

I can't say I totally agree with this. When someone profits from another's pain using God's words, I feel all Christians have a responsibility to call that person on it. If someone's actions have the effect of discouraging humans from submitting to the word of God, then we should respond to that person with all the vigor and intensity we use in spreading the word. And make no mistake, a person like Hinn with the cynicism and doubts he breed can have a devastating effect on spreading the teachings to those who need it.

"Did anyone challenge Saul when he was found prophesying among the prophets?"

OT - Saul or NT Saul / Paul ?

Come on my brother -

Christians must stand - up and speak out, regardless of whom the person is or represent. In fact the bible commands us to stand up for the word / Christ. It's called Defending the Faith or Apologetics. I tell you what, this is one brother {me} will fight for the faith and if necessary go to my grave fighting for the truth.

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and [be] ready always to [give] an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: 1 Peter 3:15

No harm inteded of finger pointing - all of you know me, I am just gonna call it like it is or tis.

It's interesting how "some so-called Christians" will defend Christianity against all other religions. But, will not defend the truth against Hinn and other so-called "Christian" healers. In fact God said in Revelation 21:8 that he has a place for those that does not defend His word. He calls them a coward and at the end their eternal home will beyond the shadow of doubt will be the Lake of Fire.

God told us to put on his armor, so that we may fight the wiles {mathods} of the devil. The Peter said "arm yourselves' why - we are in a spiritual warfare, we are fighting four our very lives spiritual and physical.

Dr. H...

I am your brother, I love you, and I am right here with you. I understand the above and and join you in giving my life to fight for the truth.

Now, I am going to post my question again so you can respond to it.

Well...if you are going to start down the above path to make your argument, then you must concede that in the context 1 Corinthians prophecy, like tongues, is a a gift given by the Spirit. 13:8 says that all of these gifts will cease. If that is true, then why - based on your position - did tongues cease after John finished Revelation but prophecy did not?
Thanks.

I want those who are against Hinn, to call him up and tell him to his face. Tell him on National Television. Speak out against him.

Aren't we supposed to chastise our brothers in Christ when they err?

Now I am not calling him. I think he is just an "actor" and I think he doesn't speak the truth. My protest is in the form of not supporting his ministry and that goes for all of folk of his ilk. I choose not to attend those churches, well oops they shun the word CHURCH, I don't go to those centers, ministries, places where they worship and believe in this manner. I don't like it, but I don't condemn those who find comfort there. So I would never JUDGE and never chastize anybody for the way in which they worship or exercise their faith.

I don't like it, so I don't ascribe or participate.

.....based on your position - did tongues cease after John finished Revelation but prophecy did not?

Read 1 Corinthians verse 8.

The word fail is katargeo mean {to render idle, unemployed, inactivate, inoperative, to have no further efficiency, to cause to cease, put an end to, do away with, annul, abolish, to pass away, be done away, separated from, discharged from, loosed from any one to terminate all intercourse with one}

Ok. lets say Hinn and others are legit, what would be the purpose of them healing

The purpose of us believers being used by God as conduits for Him healing is the fulfillment of scripture and expansion of the Kingdom.

In the 5th chapter of the general epistle of James to the Church we find:

13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit. Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him; Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

Rather than go into a long dissertation, I will simply say that this is for us to do.

I find it interesting that the scripture doesn't mention anything about man doing any healing...but praying. Is Benny Hinn teaching people about faithful prayer and its power(teaching and encouraging others to do the same.....not showing what he can do) or is he running around claiming to have the power to heal?

I can say this: I have watched and listened to Benny Hinn for years. IMO, he is not a great preacher, but I have come to understand that being a great expositor is not what builds faith the heart of the hearer. It is the very simple truth of the Word. And as a very consistent view/listener, I can say that I have only ever heard him give glory to God for doing the healing. I have never heard him take credit for himself. And, yes, he does teach others that they can be used in the same way to minister healing to others.

Let me play Devil's Advocate for a minute (no pun intended) and assume that Hinn have received the ability to heal others from God. What exactly seperates Hinn from other devoted Christains that attend his services whom have not received the ability to heal others? I know this is a hard question, but why do you think God specifically chose Hinn and others like him? Did Hinn heal people before he became a mega envangalist or after? Just something to think about.

On another issue for those that believe tongues exist today, how does one know they can speak in tongues or is it just something that happen one day? I am serious by the way. If you are a person who have spoken in tongues or have the ability to tell people's future, when did you know you had that ability or how did it come about?

Thank you! Even if he didn't, the bottom line is that WE have the responsibility of WHO we are BELIEVING. It is not Hinn. WE have control of our beliefs and faiths. Put not your trust in man, but in God...Don't we hear that all the time at church. Well why is Hinn any different. I, too have heard him say that he was giving honor and glory to God...

Not a hard question. Gifts are distributed throughout the Body of Christ by the Holy Ghost as He wills.

1 Cor 12:1-15
Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led. Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. For the body is not one member, but many.

They work by LOVE (Chapter 13) and are to be desired and cultivated (Chapter 14).

Remember: it is a gift. Gifts must be both GIVEN and RECEIVED. You know it when you begin to do speak with unknown tongues (gloosso?n) when you begin to do it. Other tongues (dial?ktoo - dialects or foreign but known language) may also occur, serving a different purpose.

If I remember from some other posts of yours, you are a believer who has not embraced the gift of tongues yet. My testimony is simply that I received the gift of tongues at the very end of my freshman year at JSU while walking down JR Lynch St in the rain on May 15, 1980 late at night. I had been through all of the calisthenics -clapping, leaping, shouting, thank yous, fast slow, prostrate on the floor - to no avail. I was disgusted and a bit disillusioned at the results. As I walked, I simply began to talk to the Lord and listen for Him to talk back to me. He did. "Just ask, Me." I did. Right then and there the gift was delivered to me. I knew and no one had to tell me. That is my testimony.

I encourage you to do just what I did: Forget everything that you have been told about "how it's supposed to happen". If you REALLY want to receive the gift, just pray and ask Him.

Good points, Dacontinent. A gift can be given because one asks(prays) OR because the Giver joyfully & unknowingly decides to bestow such (for whatever reason/purpose) on the person. The important thing is that one receives.

That's pretty profound!

If He is a fraud, How does he have people in the audience all over the world where ever he goes? THat is immpossible. It's not the man, It is God's Spirit working through him along with the peoples faith.

You know I know that some of you out there don't believe in Spiritual Gifts anymore and that is fine because they don't exist to you because of your lack of faith. What ever you believe for in the Name of Jesus will happen in my Bible.

Just like the bible say about food. Nothing is unclean, but if you feel like it is some unclean foods then the food is unclean TO YOU......That means that you also have weak faith......Anything done outside of faith is sin...

Romans14:14-23
1Tim4:1-6

Baisically, this is saying that you can believe what you will, but it will not change the fact that the Power of the Holy Ghost is alive on earth and will alwayse be till Jesus return for his CHRUCH of people who have His Spirit and baptised in His name........Until then, Anyone with faith will see what is true.

OF course if you don't believe in something then you will try to find scripture and use it to back up the lies but I am a living testimony that GIFTS of the SPIRIT is in FULL EFFECT. Miricles happen at my church all the time...It should be going on in any Spirit filled church....

Everything in the bible is based off of faith and belief.....It takes faith in Jesus and believe that God has raised him from the dead to be saved....It takes faith in everything thing that JESUS said in order for anyof it to be applied in your life.... You only get what you have faith in....

Notice what Jesus Said in Mark16:15-20
john14:13
john16:24

Now notice whatHe said in Mat28:20

TEACHING THEM TO OBSERVE EVERYTHING......EVERYTHING...Not excluding anything....That is what they did and this is what WE do....This is what everyone should do..

You read these verses.....If you read them then just think about this yourself.

If He is a fraud, How does he have people in the audience all over the world where ever he goes? THat is immpossible. It's not the man, It is God's Spirit working through him along with the peoples faith.

Not really, A third of the Angels God created followed Satan. How do you explain those that follows John Smith, Mary Baker and others that "swear" they are / were controlled by the HS. There are individuals that are preaching false doctrine in 2005 and they have hundreds of followers. What about Jim Jones and David Kares (sp)?

It's called itching ears

Now don't get me wrong, I do agree that there are lots of fakes out there. THose people will just have to answer to God. But I do know that God's power is still on earth today. The bible say you should test the spirits.....All of the people you named as an example are fraud. If anyone does anything out of the will of God is wrong. If they claim to have the Spirit or Spiritual power and do or say things against what the bible teaches, then they are a lie. It's up to the person to decide what He or she wants to believe. A person with the HolySpirit should be able to tell the fakes.
