Benny Hinn

BP, nice observation. But I enjoy that even when we do deviate from the topic that we still continue to discuss instead of arguing. Most people that I know usely start out discussing and then ends up arguing or just mad at another person.

 I agree 100%.

I could have 20 cars, 10 houses, 50 million dollars in the bank and STILL be generous beyond measure....If I give half of that $50 million to the poor guess what...I'M STILL RICH!!!

Guess what else....no matter how much I give...People would STILL say I am living too lavishly!!

FOR ME, I could care less if BENNY HINN is fake or real, for I KNOW that it is NOT BENNY WHO IS HEALING ME if he should be allowed to lay hands on me to pray for some illness. I realize that God gave us power in the tongue to call those things which be NOT as though they were. I believe that "BY HIS STRIPES WE ARE HEALED...and not by our own doing...so as far as Benny's reality being of a concern to me....IT AINT NONE OF MY BUSINESS....I am of the belief that I can lay hands on my ownself and call every cell in the body to line up under GOD's authority. I KNOW THAT I CAN REBUKE THE DEVIL....I KNOW THAT I can call on the MIGHTY name of JESUS and Satan will flee....

SO FOR ME, I don't give two left shoes what Benny is doing because if his prayer is causing SOMEBODY's faith to be STRENGTHENED IN GOD, then to brother Benny, I say pray on! God be with him and the one who believes in OUR FATHER IN HEAVEN.

"Dr. H, do you believe in speaking in tongues and healing people through the Holy Spirit?"

Do I believe that people can speak in tongues as the Apostles "glossa {gloce-sah'}" absolutely not. Just in case "some" does not understand glossa, which mean for example. I am doing missionary work in the Soviet Union and all of a sudden I start speaking Russian, without having any formal training. If people are honest, 100% of the time when someone is "speaking in tongues" on TV or at their particular congregation, they are speaking "mumbo jumbo" and no one understands that. However, when the angels spoke, they spoke in a tongue that the individuals was familiar with.

Do I believe that God heals people through the operation of the Holy Spirit? Absolutely. However, for someone to lay hands on another person and heal them of a broken leg, blindness, like the apostles? No ? no. why, because this particular gift, has to be passed down by an apostle.

Those that attend churches where the "preacher or others" claim to possess miraculous gifts of the Spiritay hands on the sick and heal them. You, should immediately asked what Apostle conferred this gift upon them.

There are many that claim they are under the influence / control of the Holy Spirit to heal. But the Holy Spirit has indicated in the gospel that genuine, God-given supernatural powers were handed down through the hands of the Apostles.

People need to start evaluating all religious claims, using the word as the standard. When this is done, the only conclusion is

(1) a delusion of the devil (Rev. 13:14; 16:14; 19:20; II Thessalonians 2:9); (2) a psychological delusion;
or (3) a deliberate fabrication

As I previously stated, the devil can also work mirror miracles.

Question:

Has anyone witnessed a Hinn or anyone else laying on hands or a cripple and afterwarde he / she was able to walk. We are not talking about someone that by a "Miracle" showed up at church that particular Sunday. And all of a sudden, this person comes down front and say "I am a cripple" heal me - the "preacher" lay on his hands and the "cripple" get up and walk.

Oh I agree with you...I just hate to hear the argument people make where they imply that being rich is a sin.

It's that jealously and ignorance (in the sense that they don't know the full story) talking.

I'd like to see ONE person on this board who would not live a real comfortable (not necessarily flashy) lifestyle, if the opportunity presented itself.

There is nothing wrong with being physically rich or well to do as we say back home. The problem arises, when a person put their riches above God.

Now how did I know you'd be next to respond?!

Me personally, I don't feel there is nothing wrong with being rich. As a whole I think the rich do more good than bad. They create jobs and they donate more.

I don't want to make it seem like I am attacking anyone's believes, but in my heart, I don't believe tongues and healing exist in today's time.

Is it really the healing or the "touching of hands" that you don't believe in?

The act of healing (in terms of God tunneling the healing) is a real tricky issue and my common sense tells me it just doesn't happen. Maybe, maybe not. On the other hand, when you see these ministers pushing people on the forehead saying things like "get back the Satan" and then the person falls in the arms of ushers, then I question that.

There is another Evangelist named R.W. Shambach that says he has the Gift of HEALING. He claim to have Blessed a lady with a "new" breast after a Mastsectomy.

I am straight feeling you and did not feel attacked at all!

I aint too keen on the speaking in tongues part...I had a bad experience... :D

I questioned it too until I went to a women's conference and this evangelist ( a lady) was praying for the women and their issues. I was standing up there with my self-righteousness saying "she know them people are faking"...

Then she called out the issue that I had at that time. I went up there still saying to myself..."what is she gon' do"....I watched her like a hawk....then I was being helped up from the floor. IT HAPPENED TO ME...and I still questioned it. THe only feeling I got was being warm all over me....and some people were helping me to a chair. Regardless of my questioning her, the issue that she laid hands on me and prayed about was resolved! I accepted her prayer...but was focusing on not falling down...

Unfortunately, I see this all the time...

I don't have a problem with someone being rich. Hinn don't sit well with me. Something is wrong with the fruit on his tree. There are some gifts that God give us and he doesn't take them back. they are with us whether we walk with God or hanging with Satan.
He just don't sit well with me.

I can't believe some of yall believe Hinn is performing real miracles. Evander Holifield paid Hinn some 250,000 dollars to heal his heart. Supposedly he was healed and he continued his career. I was scared everytime he fought that he would die due to his beliefs. He is still alive. Was he healed? I do not know. It would make one spectacular story if it was true. I have seen his teleministry, and it seems to be plausible if you believe in that kind of thing. (which I don't) I have seen ministers here in Jackson say they can tell the future, heal the sick, and speak in tongues. *gibberish is not speaking in tongue, by the way* It is all of the opinion of the one who wants to believe. I was told by a friend that she put full faith in the pastor because if she didn't, she would be spiritually lost. She has been praying to be healed from obesity, yet she is still praying.....

To sum it all up: I do not believe in Hinn's abilities, but if someone else choosed to believe, that is all on them. I do understand that faith heals, but I am not 100% sure if faith in a man heals.

What book did you get that from?

Nobody says to put faith in a man. The faith is in GOD, and GOD works through MAN, just like in the bible.

The act of healing (in terms of God tunneling the healing) is a real tricky issue and my common sense tells me it just doesn't happen.
Your common sense is your Faith's biggest enemy. Our thoughts & ways aren't like God's, so learn more about God on these issues instead of just using your common sense.

I am convinced that we christians need to read the bible MORE to learn more about our God. We see something happen today that we've never seen before or don't understand and so we have a problem with it. We think it's fake. Why? Usually because we haven't opened up the bible to see that God did that very same thing 100 times in the bible already.

Just an example:
I may see someone ride a bike in Jesus' name. Now, if I've never seen anyone riding a bike in Jesus' name before then I'll call it fake or wrong.

But if I read the bible and see that Peter rode a bike in Jesus' name 25 times, then I may see that it's not so crazy, or magical, or mumbo jumbo. Same for healing + miracles + tongues + riches for God's people + etc. If we knew who consistant these things were in the bible for God's people, maybe we would join in instead or judging others' who enjoy them.

God doesn't seem to be real to some christians. He is only a being that has the power to send you to hell or let you into heaven, that was reasponsible for a lot of events thousands of years ago. To them, He can not / will not do things today that He used to do.

WONDERFUL points, nevaehinvesting!!!!

I tell you why some people don't believe: It's because #1: They haven't STUDIED the Bible for themselves, #2: They've never experienced His power. Therefore, they have absolutely nothing to confirm on what God CAN do and #3: They have no REAL prayer life.

Some Christians haven't even so much as scratched the surface of knowing our God. These are the MAIN ones who frequent church only when they feel like it or a handful times a year, don't pick up the Bible UNTIL they are in a church, probably has never gone to Bible Study or a Revival, don't have a real prayer life (basically, just calling on God when they are in trouble) and probably has NEVER fasted.
So yeah, when people discuss topics like this, they may not believe in anything, other than the fact that God created the earth OR they let whatever is said in their denomination/church doctrine dictate their spiritual lives.
And if they are OK with that, that is fine. BUT I know God for my OWNSELF. Can't nobody make me doubt Him or doubt what things can be done.

We can take the time to learn about every thing else on this earth, even pick up a hobby or surf the internet all day (speaking to my ownself), but we won't take the time to pick up a Bible and study His Word to get a better understanding for our ownselves.

Co-signing on the points...and yes, J4J, you will.

I would like to offer an admonition every believer on this wise:

When it comes to topics like this, be very careful about "putting your mouth" on God's anointed. Where there is question and controversy, spend your time praying for that person/organization, that the truth be revealed, gainsayers mouths be shut, and that the kingdom would be increased through their ministry.

Luke 9:46-50

46 Then there arose a reasoning among them, which of them should be greatest.

47 And Jesus, perceiving the thought of their heart, took a child, and set him by him,

48 And said unto them, Whosoever shall receive this child in my name receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me receiveth him that sent me: for he that is least among you all, the same shall be great.

49 And John answered and said, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name; and we forbad him, because he followeth not with us.

50 And Jesus said unto him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against us is for us.

When it comes to topics like this, be very careful about "putting your mouth" on God's anointed.

God said that it rained forty days and forty nights, we can accept that. He said that he created the heavens and earth in six days, we can accept that. However, when He said that certain things will cease or vanish away according to 1 Corinthians 13, for some reason we refuse to believe that. We believe that He parted the Red Sea and Jesus walked on water, we do not question those events. However, again we question 1 Corinthians 13.

Why are we like that ? we accept certain parts of the bible and reject other parts?

Those that are truely annoited / sent by God - you can tell, if you know the bible.

I guess no one wants to deal with the issue of Satan and his pseudo -miracles..
