Beats, Rhymes and Life: The Travel of A Tribe Called Quest

Dr. Phreeze

It is I...Yes it is...
Me and my girlfriend saw this documentary Friday night in DC and it was great to see a group that I love listening to since junior high school on the big screen...

...ahh man.

My favorite rap group of all time. Definitely will be checkin' this out.

"Snake"

That movie was the sh@t. I saw it on Saturday. If you call your self a true "hip-hop" person, it's a must see. I'm not going to turn this into a spoiler thread. It put into perspective how influential they were. I'm just going to say I agree with Busta Rhymes with "Lyrics To Go". To me, that is one of their most slept on cuts that did not have a video.

That's one of my favorite songs.

Electric Relaxation is the other...
Let me hit it from the back, girl I won't catch a hernia
Bust off on your couch, now you got "semen's" furniture....

"Ya on point, Tip?"

"All the time, Phife"

"Ya on point, Tip?"

"Yeah, all the time Phife"

"Ya on point, Tip?"

"All the time, Phife"

" So play the resurrector, and give the dead some life..."

Phife talked about that line in the documentary.

"I likem' brown, yellow, puerto rican or hatian, my name is phife dog from the Zulu nation"

"People's Instinctive Travels And Paths Of Rhythm" got me through summer school of '90 in New HUD. I was bored and it was HOT AS H@LL!!!!! "Footprints" was my sh@t!!!!!!!

Just say the movie. It was aw aught.
They did address the question of what happened to Jarowbi. Back then it was said that he tried to claim the group was his and Tribe kicked him to the curb. The explanation in the movie is acceptable. Jarowbi couldn't handle the responsibility of fame, so he said peace out.

Didn't know they went on tour in 2008. Also, after the last album it was report that Tribe had beef with record company not them Ni-gg-s had internal fight. I was like W-T-F. I still get warm over Charlie Brown getting jealous of Busta and breaking up Leaders of the New School. Back in 1994, I like everybody in Leaders except for Busta. So I was devastated when I learned that Charlie Brown broke up my group.

I laughed at the movie when they said the 2 hottest cd came out in 1994, Midnite Marauders and Enter the 36 Chambers. I was like BS!!!!Back then I never heard of the 36 Chambers. I can never forget that time in 1994, I was preparing for graduation from FAMU (I Love Thee...) and in my opinion the 2 HOTTEST CD's were Midnight Marauders and TIME (The Inner Minds Eye) - Leaders of The New School. I was a God Damnnnn Tie. No one could lose with either album!!!

What was the name of the De La Soul song they played in the movie?

Looking at Phife and Jarowbi is helping me realize that I'm old as P-h-u-c-k!!! I was like you, "... mofo's let yourself go..."

I was LMAO when rappers stated they were hot, that they were not on the Midnite Marauders covers. Back then my crew were like every rapper was on that cover.

Phife knew he was wrong but he still wanted to be an a-z-z.

Wonder Tribe Called Quest will drop that 5th and final album.

I wish they would go on tour again. The best concert I have ever been to, was a tribe concert shortly after they released their third album, in BR at THE Varsity, small venue. Remembering it sold out and there was thousands trying to get in without tickets. The whole SU was there lol. I just ordered a TCQ shirt off their website, just came in yesterday :) .

Guess that's the difference between us, I will always love Tribe Called Quest. Heck Year One at FAMU and they were so different, with Killer Beats. Remember when MTV did a cash breakdown on the 2nd album which was KILLER. "The Low End Theory" made 3 million dollars in Sales, after a break down in money, the trickle down down and everyone from the top down got their share, each member only made 30K. Black America was so different back then.

Jordan Ruled.
Forty-Niners were kings.
and Bo knew EVERYTHING!!!

De La Soul did it and I didn't know in 1990.

There is a De La Soul sample in the movie, which was the BOMB!!! I found the song yesterday.
