Conflicting statements released on if 2020 Bayou Classic will be played in New Orleans
According to Southern University Athletic Director Roman Banks the Bayou Classic will not be played in New Orleans this year, and possibly will not be played in 2021. However, organizers called the statement "premature."www.wafb.com
Well, on a lighter note, I guess those NOLA establishments won't have to put up those fake closed for remodeling signs this year. LOL!!!
SHREVEPORT, La. - When Southern athletics director Roman Banks mentioned Independence Stadium as a possible host site for the 2020 Bayou Classic it caused a bit of a stir.
Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission Executive Director Kelly Wells says that didn't come out of thin air.
"Very preliminary discussions and again it was great hearing him mention Shreveport," Wells explains to KTBS. "I know he's from this area, as is some of the administration, so no doubt the stadium would be a phenomenal fit for them and our community and our venues, while not as large as New Orleans, would be very accommodating and would allow us probably a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to bring that historic event up to our area."
New Orleans Convention Company, Inc. helps organize the event and they released a statement that said no official decisions have been reached about the game for this year and next year. With the Crescent City potentially unable to host, Wells says Shreveport-Bossier remains a possibility for Grambling and Southern.

Great point! Covid-19 could possibly shut down the season for those two teams if that is the case. We need some smart people involved with these student athletes during this pandemic....

So if Louisiana is still in a similar phase because of Covid-19 by the Spring of 2020 then at best, you'll be allowed 30-40 % of the stadium capacity at best. Independence Stadium holds about 50,000.
- So 30% is 15,000
- 40 % is 20,000
If you're lucky and get 50%, then you're looking at 25,000. Ticket prices will probably be jacked up because of that.
IF this is true, what day is the press conference? All I see is the time.

Let’s see if there is a psychological edge with Shreveport being a Grambling stronghold and quick trip down I-20 much like I-10 to N.O. for the jags.
That is my point, if SU is the home team why would you play the game in Shreveport ??
It was the largest venue available in the state. Shreveport is just as much SU as it is Grambling hell we have a campus in Shreveport with almost 4,000 students we will be just fine. Just my opinion there will not be spring football anyway.
