Bayou Classic Move

It's a shame that both schools are making less than 1 million dollars each when the city is making over 50 million. I say lets move it for a couple of years and try to get New Orleans to come back to the table with a real deal. The City of New Orleans is not going to treat us right until we behave as consumers and "shop some where else". Why pay them and continue to get dogged? I'm not only upset by high hotel rates, I'm upset by having arm bands at certain hotels. It's a shame that you pay for a room and are restricted from taking guests to your room. I know that few cities have the entertainment value of New Orleans; but, that's what the city is counting on. They know that most of us are saying that it won't be the Bayou Classic with out New Orleans. I think we need to make the personal sacrifice and party somewhere else. Sure, we won't be able to walk through the urine and puke of Burbon Street; but, can't we find other means of entertainment? A move to another city will require more planning by the Bayou Classic Committee and the Nation Alumni Groups of Southern and Grambling. They will need to provide QUALITY entertainment for the weekend (and advertise it in advance). Many cities have nightlife. I hope we will discover that we can have fun somewhere else and not throw away larger financial opportunities for a few drunken nights of pleasure in New Orleans. If we can't have Gumbo and Hurricanes, let's sample some spicy Tex-Mex food and Jumbo Margaritas!!!

Hey,

Most of the locals (Baton Rouge included) are already driving down for the game only and going back. Numerous out of towners are staying in Baton Rouge, Biloxi, Kenner and other reasonable close cities to not pay New Orleans prices. This has been happening for at least 4 years. It hasn't help the protest. Why? There are soooo many people that come to the classic that have no interest in the game and are there just for the atmosphere of the city. Example, there are lots of students from other schools (east coast and SWAC) that come down and stay in the hotels. there are some, like myself, that only stay in a hotel in NO when a few of my friends (former band members) are coming to the Classic. We end up hanging out with each other and the local former band members/frat and their significant others to catch up on what is going on with each other. So, being reasonably close by staying somewhere along Canal/Poydras helps. Otherwise, I stay with aunts in Kenner. Others stay in New Orleans no matter what when they come to the Classic.

PEACE!!!
