BAYOU CLASSIC ATTENDANCE

Just send me that gal on the bottom left of your siggy and we'll call it even steven. :read: :uhoh:

That gul shole is fine mane. :smug:

I agree with 100%. I know you know the difference you travel. It's your country cousins from the Sippi who don't get out and the country ones from Monroe who don't no any better.

Dude, this game is typically the week of JSU's homecoming. I used to pass thru there all the time on my way to Jackson from ATL. I am proud of your classic. I wish FAMU, TNState and BCC would join the SWAC, so we would have all of the major classics. Of course, everyone is probably going to enjoy their own classics best. When it comes to actual game interest, JSU and TNState has WIDE appeal. Much more than the MCC. I still maintain that no one in the BCF world cares about it....good thing the BAMA's do. I am sure you have nice events but no classic has the mass appeal like the Bayou Classic. I had never heard of the MCC before around 1996 and the CCC was only two years old at the time but JSU and Alcorn never needed this to be a classic for it to mean something to us. I can ask anyone in my building if they have have heard of the MCC and proably none of the have. The opposite would be true for the BC. The BC is a National African American Event.

Maybe not but I bet they have heard of Jackson State. Ain't nobody heard of AAMU. I keep telling MD that ya'll need to move your JSU and Alcorn games to ATL so people can hear about ya'll. LOL

Do you think that if you continue to make assinine statements like this that it will make them true? There must be something that drives you to be this foolish.

:(

And that's where you're wrong. The Bayou Classic is a better football game and a bigger rivalry than the MCC and the TDC. In HBCU football 2 HBCU teams don't wanna beat each other worse than SU and GSU wanna beat each other. The only reason The Bayou Classic isn't drawing 60,000+ to the game as of recent is Katrina. The overrall atmosphere of the Bayou Classic is amazing.

Have you ever been to a MCC.... for you to make these assumptions you would HAVE to go both. About the bigger rivalry.... honestly I dont see it to be true. AAMU and ASU is a rivalry in EVERY SPORT, not just football... You got over 60,000 people at the game who care about game... not alot of outsiders who are just going to be seen. I would say 90% of the people there have ties to one of the schools.....And the atmosphere at the MCC is amazing also. I repeat there is NOT a larger tailgate in HBCU sports than the Magic City Classic.

Also, the fact that the MCC draws 66,000 people who actually care who wins the game versus the fact that half the people at the BC appear to be just there to be seen, while the other half actually came for the game.
That's not true. If you were talking about the LDC in Houston...then, you'd be right on point... Then, again...let's not act like EVERY Classic doesn't have a few thousand people walking around, not filling seats in the name of profiling.

Every Bayou Classic Ive been to...the whole dome is into the game and halftime (no matter how Grum is looking that year). The Houston Bayou was the only Classic that visually looked crippled in attendance (and, we all know why)....but, those that were there were into it.

Speaking of attendance, if it wasn't for the MCC, A&M's average yearly attendance would be around 7,000 folks per year. A lot of D-2 schools have better overall attendance than that.

How can both Bama State and A&M get these many people to a MCC game, but can't get no more than 10,000 on average to come to their home games in Normal and Montgomery? This is really baffling and really sad.
This proves that people simply don't care about yall's football, they just care about this ONE game of the year. Now I will grant Bama State the TDC, but A&M, your fan base is pathetic.:shame:

The AAMU vs Bama St rivalry is nowhere near as intense or as deep as SU vs GSU. We go at it in every sport too but The Classic is always a big thing for SU and GSU. ESPN even listed it as one of the biggest rivalries in College sports up rivalries like USC vs UCLA, Ohio St vs Michigan, Oklahoma vs Texas, ect. I'm sure that the MCC is an incredible experience but none is like The Bayou Classic. The only thing ya'll got on us is the tailgate.

I sure wish we could tailgate. The Dome space just don't allow it. Just think how it would be if we played the BC in a tailgate friendly stadium. One of the reasons I was hoping the Saints and Benson got a new stadium.

Exactly!!! The tailgate would be off the chain.

Why must you guys always bring up this topic..Nobody was on those MCC classic threads but Bammas to begin with..

The MCC is not the biggest Classic in BCF anyway..It's the Florida Classic and Dahill have you been down there to see that tialgate? So how can you say yours is bigger..Have you been to the Southern Heritage classic tailgate? It's huge and people actually plan family reunions during this classic..You cannot say definately that the MCC has the biggest Tailgate..Do you collect tickets for each person,RV and slot.. NO

Was the AAMU/Bamma State game selling out before it became a classic? I'm sure Southern and Gram were and so was JSU/Alcorn.. I still don't know why Alcorn went for it when they packed Jacks Spinks and made all the money.

Look the MCC is great to the Bamma Schools and whoever attends them.
Does that make it better than the Florida,CCC,BC classic? They are all Rivalry games and are special to each school who participates.. Stop the maddness that is this debate...I for one have no plans on going to the Florida Classic or The MCC. I will go to the BC but New Orleans is more the draw..

I go to games to watch Football so since i don't have any vested interest in the teams why go...All that side show ish is for the youngsters anyway.

I Hope everyone has a great time at the MCC this weekend...

Oh yeah Bamma Jelly leave the mask at home this time..

Jrock thats another lie.... MCC attendance is NEVER calculated into AAMU's home attendance no matter if we are the home team or not... same thing with ASU. Like I have said before NO SCHOOL in the SWAC counts people the same. ... so its hard to get a TRUE attendance for all SWAC schools. Same thing with that UAPB game.. anyone who was there would tell there were WAY more than 3,000 people. More like 7 or 8 but it all depends on how you count attendance.

sorry but I have been to many Southern Heritage Classics...my mother went to Tenn State and I also attended.. The MCC is 10 times bigger than the Southern Heritage Classic. You cant compare the two honestly. Like I said earlier you would have to go to understand... I cant explain it on here. The reason I KNOW there isnt a HBCU tailgate larger is because of space. Legion Field is PERFECT for Tailgaiting... and it pours into the "hood" surrounding Legion Field.... its not just tailgating in the parking lot/Rvs, it turns into tailgaiting/neighborhood barbque. Also I know its larger than the Florida Classics because my boy who goes to BCC came to Bham last year for his first MCC and said he had NEVER saw anything like it in his life. So once again if you think the Southern Heritage Classic's tailgate is "huge" your eyes would pop if you ever decide to go to Birmingham the last Saturday in October.

the question about was it a sellout before it was a classic... Hell I have no idea, the MCC is almost 70 years old, you would have to ask someone REAL OLD that question.

damn, first they tried to pass of the southern heritage classic as bigger and now shaggy is even trying to pass off the Capital City Classic,(in what amounts to a regular home game for Jsu, the one that drew less than 10K a few years ago :retard: ) as bigger.

and psycho jag saying that the Bama's rivalry is not as intense as the Lousiana rivalry, as if he's measured them.

Yall folks comical!

Just tip your cap to the Bamas and be done with it.

sheesh!

I never said the Southern heritage Classic game attendance was bigger I said the tailgate was comprable...Also the CCC is not bigger in attendacne but the event pre-Bell is a 50,000 Draw and is a great time for fans of that classic..Shoot more people around HBCU's have mention going to both the SHC and CCC many times over compared to the MCC..The MCC is a Bama thing and that's fine..Just Like the Florida Classic is a Florida thing..We will have to agree to disagree but the CCC and BC have bigger mass appeal based on the History of the schools playing..

And the Hill post the all time attendance..JSU and Alcorn in Jackson has always been a 50,000 draw in the VET...

Name one home game from any SWAC school that can draw 50,000. Also that shows you how many JSU fans go to the game if only 10,000 showed up during a boycott of Bell..

In some cases you really can't call MCC tailgating "tailgating". Some people who live near Legion Field just bar-b-QUE in their yards, the streets, driveways, and parking lots. And the food is FREE especially for ASU/AAMU band members

JR,

I.

Also, the fact that the MCC draws 66,000 people who actually care who wins the game versus the fact that half the people at the BC appear to be just there to be seen, while the other half actually came for the game.
If that were true, why after halftime the stands are empty @ the mcc. Knowbody stays to the end of the game. The stands are packed @ the Bayou Classic until the end of the game, with the crowd really into the game.
