Has this ever happened in collegiate basketball?

If SU's women win the regular season championship this weekend, will a city have had the regular season's champion in basketball from both the men, and women from 2 schools at the same time?

With SU's men already having won the SWAC regular season championship, and LSU's men, & women already having staked claim at the SEC's championships, all that leave's is SU's women to do their part, providing JSU losess to give them the title outright.

Has this ever been done, and what's going on in BR this year?

NICE

If you not going to the game Saturday listen to the Jackson St @ Bama St women game on Bama St's broadcast. I don't think this is done before. They should do like they done in football.....Have a Parade of Champion. Delaware St is ahead of us so we have to get them to lose so we can have a shot at being the HBCU Champions.

GO BAMA ST & DO ME A BIGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG FAVOR.YALL BEHINDS BETTTER MAN UP & STOP LETTING Burns SCORE EASY POINTS. THIS GIRL IS A KILLLER.

No doubt the tournament counts (at least in the SU's case), but nevertheless it's still an unusual occurance. It doesn't happen that often if ever, that 2 schools in different conferences, but the same city, will win championships in both men's, and women's basketball.

I don't know if it has ever happened. This is the first time in SEC History that a school holds the regular season title for men's and women's basketball. For one city to have regular season champs from two seperate conferences is amazing. Talk about one hell of a trivia question in the future.

I was thinking about this subject when I was at home this weekend (and listening to the LSU/S Carolina game on WWL driving back to Dallas).

Here is more food for thought:
  • Semoine Augustus has already been named SEC Player of the Year (2nd consecutive year)
  • Most likely Glen Davis will be the SEC Player of the Year (2006)
  • Brandon Bass was the SEC Player of the Year (2005); if I am not mistaken he was a 2 time Player of the Year too
All born and raised in the Red Stick.

Bass was Freshmen Of The Year, but not a 2 time player of the year. His junior season, the Roberts kid for Mississippi State was POY.

Supe don't forget Brion Rush more than likely will be SWAC POY.

Bass should have stayed at LSU.

Birmingham is known as the Football Capital of the South and I don't have any problem with those who would like to declare BR The South's B-ball Capital. We are still a basketball school.
