Proud ***** of JSU
I just got wind of some very distrubing news concering my football team that may require me to eat a little crow. It seems I may have spoken too soon about our quarterback situation that we were expecting to have this season. In the last few days we may have had some major changes to our projected starting roster.

It's not offical yet, but I am no longer am confident this team is gonna be the worldbeaters I previously thought they would be.

However, I still think we should beat JSU and FAMU regardless. We own those scrubs.

More info later.

Dude, how can you have changes in your starting roster when you claim that you did not even play your starters in your Spring game. They could not have lost their positions if Hayes was only checking the backups out against each other. Besides, even if it is as you say. All you have RIGHT now is a 150 lbs JUCO QB, a redshirt freshman, and a converted WR who "took a few snaps". You don' t have a QB and you don't stand a chance in September against JSU. I am still very interested in NCCU. I KNOW their defense is going to shut A&T down again but I am wondering if their offense will improve enough to beat A&T.

What happened to the JUCO dude? I thought you guys were holding him out of practice because he was soooo precious. Why couldnt you just be honest. Tell the truth..he is ineligble. Are you telling me that you dont have a worthy QB. What happened to that boss recruting class. Are you telling me that you didnt recruit a QB? So, do you think that your coach should have gone after a QB instead of 6 RBs? Hughes, you remember him dont you, recruited the best QB in the state. But Im sure that doesnt mean a thing to you.

You are excused to return to the MEAC board now where they are afraid of this crap you have been spressing. Like I said, JSU folks were never impressed.

Thrilla, are you scared to go to the MEAC board or something? Why are you always over here blabbing about nothing.

You don't have a QB. Your best hope might be if Matkins can return because:

1. Ain't no transfer who has only been practicing with the team for three weeks and only faced NCCU going to beat Jackson State.

2. Ain't no transfer from an over-rated JUCO system going to beat JSU

3. Ain't no recruit, backup QB or some poor fellow who showed up at practice going to beat JSU.

I just don't see where you get your hope from.

So before you embarrass yourself...think before you come back to this topic.

GR, you have touched on the problem area but you are still not 100 percent correct. Yes, I may have overreacted by saying that the JUCO all star QB would be our starter this season. That was the consensus from our football headquarters after he arrived and dazzelled everyone with his arm and play-making ability. He is the real deal.

It's just that no one could have forseen what recently transpired. We were all caught off guard by these recent developments.

However will still should be able to beat you. Worse come to worse we can always switch back D-phil from receiver to QB. He beat you in the Dome he should be able to beat you in Greensboro.

This is a big blow, but all is not lost.

TP, last year we started a converted wide receiver who was playing QB for the first time in his career. And we still beat JSU 42-35.

In 1999 we went undefeated in the MEAC and upset TSU in the first round of the playoffs with a true freshman.

It can be done.

Im sure it is...but if he is not practicing and he is on campus, then there is a problem. More than likely an eligibilty problem. What he doesnt understand is... WE DONT CARE

PTI,

BT,
No smack here. But what happened to the QB that was a true Freshman in 99 that you guys won with. Shouldn't this be his Senior Fall Campaign if he came in 99? That's the same year we got our QB Richard who will be a R-Jr on the field and Sr in the classrom this coming Fall. Did the kid get hurt? Academic issues? Quit or Transfer? I am just curious, because I knew your 99 team was good. Anyway you guys can carry on with your smack.

That kid from 99 lost focus on football and started to concentrate more on baseball, his first love. Last year he was voted MEAC player of the year in baseball. He probably will enter in MLB draft this year.

He did start in 2000 but lost his job midway in the season to Keith Matkins. He wasn't gonna play last year, but when Matkins was found to be academically ineligible at the start of 2001, he came back to the team to be a backup. He didn't play any Spring Ball.

When last year's starter got hurt late in the season, he played in the final two games of the season, going 1-1. However, he is not coming back to the team this year; for reasons I will state later.

OK here's the deal.....

This weekend, heading into the last two weeks of the signing period for HS recruits, Bill hayes just announced probably the biggest signing in the modern history of black college football.

After months of tense negotiations and some timely luck, Duwuan Burton,a 6'3 230 lb quarterback from West Charlotte HS in Charlotte NC, signed his offical letter to be an Aggie.

Burton was heavily recruited by every major school on the east coast but they passed on him because he didn't get his SAT and ACT scores on the first two tries.

However, Hayes never gave up on the kid. He told him if he could just quailfy academically he could join the #1 program in black college football.

And finally, on his third attempt, Burton got the needed scores this past week and Hayes was there with pen and paper in hand. He is now officially an Aggie.

Therefore, I now think we have a log jam at the QB position. This latest signing gives of three of the top five quarterbacks in the state last year and the best JUCO quarterback on the west coast.

I thought Jason Dougals was gonna be the starter, but now I seriously don't know. I mean, Dougas is all-world and has a great arm and quick feet, but this Burto kid might even be better. 6'3 240lbs? Please tell me what school that we face this year will be able to tackle him, let alone stop him?

He was considered on of the top 50 players in the state on NC this year. Rivals.com listed him as the 46th best QB in America. Florida State even had him listed as their #1 Qb recruit.

Just look at these links:

The only reason Dougals didn't play in the Spring Game is because he was already awarded the starting job. Now it looks like the race is open once again. Persoanlly, I just don't think Hayes will know what to do with all these studs. No coach in 1-AA has ever had this much QB talent on their roster at on time. This like having an allstar team at your immediatedissposal.

I am worrid about this season because I think there will be a terrible QB controversy. Do you play the best JCUo Qb in Cali, a QB who was second team all-state, 1st runner up for the Mr. Football Award, or the 46th highest rated QB in America who FSU considered their top QB prospect?

This could be too much of a good thing.

Sounds like a clone of Darnell Kennedy with Eugene size to me. Is this kid going to be even eligible to play?

BT,
A word to the wise is sufficient. I've seen A&T practice and I'm still trying to figure out what the hell you are running your mouth about. Outside of the OL, you are a cheap MS Valley knockoff. Lets just hope you qbs play better than they practice. How can you not be consistent throwing a 10 yard out pattern? And how can wide receivers jungle so many damn short passes. Tell them to catch the ball with their hands and not their chest. Tha'ts why the ball keeps bouncing off their shoulder pads and hitting the ground.

LOL@BT. Man you are too much bruh. I knew something was brewing. I kind of figured you were leading us on.

Hey GR,
I think I am going to make that trip to Greensboro to see this game. Between you and Thrilla comments about your teams, I would be watching the premiere Qbs in BCF play. Checking my calendar to make sure it doesn't intefere with a SU game that I am already going to.

Blue Bengal,

Yeah right. When did you got to an A&T practice? Obviously you were not at the Spring Game. Both the backup QBs who played in that game threw long TD passes.

BTW: Could you please tell everyone how Nate Goodson looked in practice? You really don't have to lie to kick it.

GR,

You ask me to tell you. I tried to keep it a secret but you kept asking me. *snicker*
