Even if Barack Obama doesn't win the nomination he will still be a political heavyweight do you guys believe with his popularity and deep pockets will he influence the elections of the Old Guard Black democrats who have supported Hillary.

I really don't want to talk about this right now. Its too early and anything can happen. Plus, this has the potential to get really ugly...I really hope it doesn't by the time this election is over.:smh:

Brave, I think this is going to get ugly anyway I've seen people post Maxine Waters, and John Lewis congressional office numbers on the internet. My friend in ATL told me Lewis's phone and email has been burning up with people in his district complaining about him endorsing Clinton. Btw his district went to Obama by a wide margin.

Would this be something like political suicide?

It's seems like our people have the same mentality as those in Kenya,Ethiopia ,Palenstine etc. Over in those countries people are ostracized, ridiculed or KILLED because they support a particular canidate. Here in America WE HAVE THE RIGHT to endorse or vote for anyone that WE FEEL to get the job done. In our country a person cannot be president no more than 8 years. It's not like they are going to be a life time dictator. Black people SHOULD SHOW MORE SOPHISTICATION on the voting process. If someone want to endorse Obama or Clinton then they should not feel threatened because they have done so. Our people sometimes are so shallow when it comes to politics. Hell Ted Kennedy endorsed Obama..did Clinton have some ill feeling toward her long time friend. No. Hell even OBama said that he was friends with Hillary before he decided to run for office and he will be friends after whether he wins or lose. Even Hillary has a photo of Barrack and his family on her office wall. THIS IS THE BENEFIT OF THE DEMOCRATIC PROCESS.WE CAN AGREE TO DISAGREE WITHOUT SHOOTING ROCKETS AT EACH OTHER. This is how a CIVIVLIZE NATION OF PEOPLE suppose to act. NOT LIKE SOME CRAZED THUGS over in Africa and the Middle East because a certain did not win politically.

PBLA, That's the biggest bunch of bullsh*t I've ever heard we all know that political retribution occurs all the time is American politics.

Are we losing control over one little question?

This wouldn't be the first time that if a backlash were to occur. if the super delegates were to take away a candidate apparent win my having more overall regular delegates.

If memory serves me right it happens between Gary Hart and Walter Mondale and there was a huge backlash about it then.

The general public has always held the position along with quite a few super delegates, that the super delegate weren't suppose to affect the out come of the primary race in that way, but rather to give the people choice a political boost as the candidate heads for the white house.

For John Lewis since his district voted for Obama by a wide margin. I'm sure he should have known that his district was lending that way prior to the election.

John Lewis has endorsed Clinton so has Maxine Waters and both of there Districts went to Obama.

This might hurt them for their next re-election bid for congress. They went one way while their base went another way. This could be close to political suicide.

I'm not sure about John Lewis but as for Maxine Walters, she's earn the right to support who she feels best fit her policy without having to fear repercussions.

That's not to say her constituents won't do use their political power and get her to change her mind.

lol.

HUH? You act like we are the only people in America who do this?

So if Hillary so happpens to win the nomination would Obama supporters vote for Hillary?

Carry on.

FYI
Michelle Obama will be on the Michale Baiseden show in a few minutes.

Blue, both of them have been soldiers in the movement at one time or another but it seems they have gone against the wishes of there people. I think they are between a rock and a hard place they had to support Clinton because of past favors while their districts went to Obama. This could get tricky during reelection if Obama wins they could be out in the cold, If he looses he still has deep pockets and popularity among Blacks. If Hillary wins she doesn't owe them anything because they haven't delivered anything.

Obama and Hillary don't come across to me like that. Since Obama want to come across party lines to get things done,I think that would be a little out of his character to ostracize those who endorsed Clinton. Obama has a good spirit he knows and understands our political system grants you a choice and people should not be punished for their choices. Hopefully it won't be like that.

Frat, I think you are about to see the old guard black demos get run by the newer school Barack Obama types. Especially if Obama wins the nomination. It is going to be tight on those old heads. Young black educated folks don't think like the old school blacks. Barack will be the Tiger Woods of the political game........meaning he will spawn a new group of young blacks who will be politicians who don't get in bed with the old guard and is willing to challenge them. Folks like John Lewis, Maxine Waters and Conyers and even Rangel have all done us a good service over time.......I just think like Bigtyme said. It will be a backlash if Hillary doesn't win. Even if she does..........I think this whole process is going to produce a bunch new Barack Obama political types in the African American community. No longer will you see black politicians tied to white folks like Bill and Hillary who supported the civil rights movement.. due to everyone getting farther and farther removed from that era. They will align themselves with progressive and think out the box type folks and not the same status quo in the Democrat party. So Lewis and Waters will become political dinosaurs. Should be interesting though. I am just glad folks finally are starting to believe we can get a viable black candidate in the Oval office.

Just my analogy. Nothing more or less.

PBLA, I don't think it's a personal thing I think it's just the nature of politics, like JR said I think this will spawn a new breed of black politicos.

So true. The corporate lobbyist are shaking in their boots because Barrack is not tied to any lobbyist because ALL of his money came from the grass roots. When Republican Susan Eisenhower(Former President and General Dwight D. Eisenhower grandaughter) endorsed Obama this weekend I think that sealed the nomination for him. But the African American old heads are in the same boat as the White old heads and that is they worked the system and played the game while they were in it. Obama is somewhat of an outsider of the Capitol Beltway..so he's not tied to any lobbyist as the old heads were. But hey like Barrack-O said he want to build relationships across party lines and age lines. It might be a new game in D.C.

Hopefully the people that they represent are not that shallow. Then again I could be wrong. You would think their bases would look at what they have done for them and not look at if they support Obama or Clinton.

Those folks are dying Styles. They are old like them. The young folks will want to roll with the new school. Because it means change. Folks in those districts that are young and poor don't remember when those old head black politicians were stomping the grounds in our behalf. They see a new and dynamic type of black politician like Barack and he has that rock star capability. Young aspiring black politician will no longer utilize the old school model to run their campaigns. This whole process is about to change the game. I would suggest the old black guard get ready............a change is coming sooner than they might think. And you know what...........it is about time. They have done all that they can do. Time for the next generation of us to take over just like they did when they came along and let them enjoy retirement. So yeah I do think some of them will get voted out of office if the right candidate in their district shows up. Barack gets the nomination and he can single handily usher in a new regiment of young and different thinking black politicians. Folks want to be on the winning team.

It will be an exciting process to watch as this election unfolds.

It's about time. The only time you see the old black politicians is when they're being used by white politicians to influence the black vote. People don't realize that Obama isn't running a campaign......he's running a Movement.
