What y'all think? She probably was set-up. But why must they emphasize she's Mormon?!

The case has been a fixture on TV networks with its nightmare scenario of a mother being caught up in a drug case and sent to prison in a judicial system that has long struggled with corruption.

Maldonado and her husband, Gary, said they were returning from her aunt’s funeral at the time of the arrest.

“I was at the checkpoint. They asked us to get off bus. And they were checking for drugs or I don’t know what else,â€￾ Maldonado said. “And they say they found something under my seat. But I never saw anything. They didn’t show me anything.â€￾

Gary Maldonado says authorities originally demanded $5,000 for her release, but the bribe fell through. The husband was released after initially being suspected of smuggling.

Benitez described the packets of drugs as attached to the seat bottoms with metal hooks, a task that would have been impossible for a passenger boarding normally as Maldonado did.

She knew there were drugs in her car.

Ridiculous.

I don't know if she was necessarily "framed". This is just a case of stupidity and corruption.

Packages 5" tall and 20" wide. :|

Come on. Anybody with any sense would know that whoever attached those packages to the bottom of those seat needed a considerable amount of time to do it. And it was not somebody who just happened to board a bus and sit down in a seat.

Hopefully the judge has some sense and releases her.

Something else I noticed. Her husband. Uhh ... marry a 42 year old woman with seven kids a year ago? Bless you, son. Bless your Mormon ass.

I see they went to a funeral but under no circumstances will I cross the border into Mexico for any reason these days.

I would never cross the border into Mexico via car. I'm flying...to resort and staying my black ass at the resort the entire time and then flying out. No driving shyt!! :lmao:

Car/Bus she knew

You do know this is one of the known techniques used by drug dealers and extortionist in Mexico.

They will also "tape" drugs to the bottom of unknowning Americans cars that are headed back across the border. If they make it, they simply have the car followed and retrieve the drugs when the car is parked. If the car is stopped at the border, they are not the ones that get caught and nothing can be traced back to them.

I'm not going period.
Now they killing, robbing, and raping in those resort towns.

Sadly, the crooked cops that tried to extort money from this family will face no charges in Mexico. This is par for the course down there.
