Is this something the SWAC & MEAC should be considering, especially for FCS football & D1 basketball scheduling?

Set to launch on July 1, 2026, Unisun Sports will offer shared services and resources, enhanced revenue generating opportunities, collective purchasing, and featured scheduling alliances, enhancing the student-athlete experience.

It is easier for the Asun and UAC to do this because they operate as a consortium (two conferences under one leadership).

The closest thing that we have is HBCU Athletic Conferences Unite, which includes the CIAA, SIAC, MEAC, and SWAC, but it unclear what the leadership structure is for that organization and what powers they have. To me it seems like all four of the commissioners have to agree on something in order to move forward with anything a group.

To me it would interesting to see if the conferences can get together on something like HBCU contracts for apparel deals with the multiple brands used by HBCUs. While FAMU and JSU would not be apart of that type of deal, because they have their own unique apparel deals, it would be interesting to see what the others could do if they combine their purchasing power.

we had that - it was called Russell but we failed to go all out distribution-wise at the beginning of the deal when interest was at its peak - hardly could get gear on campus or in stores

One of the longtime coaches at Valley hated that the SWAC went away from Russell because they could get as many uniforms from Russell as possible

My thoughts was like how Adobe and other software vendors have different types of contacts based on worked out agreements with different entities like Federal, State, Cities\Towns, Educational Institutions.

For example:

There would be pre-agreed upon terms\conditions and buy in pricing for a HBCU contract at the different apparel companies (as it would mean schools can choose whoever they want and they would have predefined contract and pricing to enter into an agreement under with the apparel company they select). They could even have a clause in contract to prevent price increases for a specific period of time.
