COBA Students Win Awards at Networking Conference
Students and alumni of ASU’s College of Business Administration racked up several awards on a recent trip to the annual PowerNetworking Conference.
A group of nine students and alumni from Alabama State University’s College of Business Administration (COBA) attended the tenth Annual FraserNET PowerNetworking Conference in Atlanta on June 9 – 11.
The conference, which is the nation’s largest African-American business conference, is a three-day business and networking summit featuring keynote speakers, plenary sessions, workshops, competitions and panel discussions with industry leaders.
Some of the notable speakers included Dr. Iyanla Vanzant, author; Dr. Na’im Akbar, activist/scholar; Les Brown, motivational speaker, best-selling author; Dr. Julianne Malveaux, the 15th president of Bennett College; Lisa Nichols, best-selling author; Randall Pickett, winner of NBC’s “The Apprentice;†and ASU’s own entrepreneur-in-residence, Dr. William Pickard.
“The conference was a gathering of some of the best and brightest speakers and celebrities assembled in Black America,†said Dr. Michelle Crawford, assistant professor in COBA and student chaperone. “It was an excellent opportunity for our students to directly engage speakers, experts and extraordinarily successful PowerNetworkers.â€
