ASU Basketball,time to let go

And this is why we (as a people) are in the shape we are in today. We would rather build someone else's house than build our own and then beg and complain about getting crumbs or being left out altogether.

So it is acceptable that our conferences (HBCU) take money from the larger PWC's in those lopsided contests (basketball and football) to support our institutions......but our kids can't go there??? Not to mention that our taxes help support these larger PWC's.......

No, I am on record being against money games. I think they are counter-productive.

I remember Trayvon Reed as an 8th grader playing at a local Jr high school. He has never stayed at any school more than a year. TXSU is his 3rd college. Mike has been successful with transfers. Is this the model that other SWAC coaches should implement?
that's how Chief got to bama state. that's how jammar sanders got to uab after bama state. I think being a HBCU we should have been making inroads into African recruiting.

So, why should I come and play for you when your own child won't play for you?
That is an argument...but south carolina has had her starting almost all season. I would have loved to see her at bama state, but anyone I've told about looked at me like I was crazy.

She can go where she wants and she did that. Doesn't Bama State (hell every SWAC team plays against "better competition" the first 12-13 games of the season?
How often do we win those games? Like Herm Edwards said " You play to win the game."

Neither Chief or Jamar made the number of transfers Trayvon has made. Just look at his jr and high school movement. I’ve followed him since his days at Houston Hill Jr. High.

no that not what I was saying. bama state, imho, should grab the occasional transfer. now I believe apr is part of it. lew has gotten that straighten out, but it appears he doesn't take too many chances w/ guys when recruiting. also tx so had a bunch of suspensions this season & that not something lew has to do...at least publically.
still wish tedric hill had panned out.

You may not win the battle (game), but that check helps to keep us in the war (existence) to continue to educate those (athletes and others) who come to our institutions.

You speaking from the institution's perspective. I'm talking about from a player's. You know like I know that if a Top 100 player had a chance to go to a school to play for a national championship, they would definitely go. We might not like it but it's the truth.

those players are "influenced" to play at places that have no business being at. Maybe if we "influence" them they can play for that same title since we are all eligible to do so. We love farming out our best to others and will make all excuses for them to leave but can't get nothing in return.

More like decisions that must be made to stay in business........

If we are not consistently giving back as alumni.......some decisions must be made to make up the shortfall.......
Then maybe...just maybe we should drop down to DII or NAIA. We are not getting the premere athlete anyway and the cost to operate is much less.

Well the problem is we can't go by "maybe" or "if", we have to go by what it is. Not sure how y'all got off topic when this was clearly about ASU basketball.

Tedric Hill should have played in the NBA.

"we" are the ones allowing others to influence us. Where were these same folks prior to them obtaining athletic achievement? How many are there when they don't pan out?

That might work with kids from the south but if you are kid from Cali, Washington, NY, etc. you're more than likely going for the best school that gives you the best opportunity to play at a higher level. You're not focused on HBCU's especially if you and/or your family has never experienced it.
