ArkLaTex In-depth: The Finances of Grambling Athletics

Stuff like this is not good to hear. Glad to know Alcorn has been fiscally responsible ;)

In college athletics one sport rules all.

"Football is the crown jewel. I mean hey I don't care where you go or what you do that's the crown jewel and at Grambling State University, the rich legacy that we have here, football is the crown jewel. We have many other sports that are great sports that are doing great, but we know, like you say, where the revenue comes from and what we have to do in order to ensure that," said Grambling State University Athletic Director David Ponton.

"The amount of support we've gotten from the state has dwindled over the years. We went from $32 million to $13 million, so to take that kind of hit most of the burden for the finances are placed on our students. They self-tax themselves $100 a semester in order to support our minor sports and our non-venue producing sports which helps a tremendous amount," Ponton said.

Regarding state fiscal support, it’s been this way with us since 1972, the year AM&N went under the UA System. The bulk of our financial support comes from the state, and UAPB gets what’s left after Fayetteville, the Medical Center, Little Rock, and Monticello gets theirs.

And SU is the red-head felon who constantly cheats to compete and cannot win when the playing field is level and even w/ regards to rules/guidelines being applied. :D

How many past seasons championships/victories has SU had to vacate lately? Got character or morality? lol We try to do things the right way, like doing away w/ all funded sports programs fall 1990, once internal audits showed impropieties. SU cheats constantly academically and athletically w/ uncertified 30 yr olds playing varsity sports and then blames the ncaa for catching them :D . lmao What type of backwards felonious logic does that make? Only in red rough (rouge de la rough). smh
Yet PV had NCAA infractions and KEPT losing.
