So, what if you are accused, assassinated, and then the CIA covers it up? I'm not paranoid about this issue; rather, I'm concerned about a slippery slope effect. The "War on Terrorism" excuse can just as easily be applied to the "War on Drugs", and it could be decided that there is a clear and present danger to the US from drug dealers. Now the CIA can kill people within the States with impunity. What about the inevitable mistakes? What if they extend it to other "threats"? Not that I don't trust Shrub and (more to the point) Ascroft and Ridge...
