Alfonso Soriano......

Devil's Gun Trigger Man

onward and upward son!
has got to be one of THE DUMBEST baseball players I have ever seen. Does he not read the scouting reports???? When they get 2 strikes on him they are gonna go down and away with breaking stuff, and this dummy continues to flail away at obvious balls in the dirty. We not gone even talk about his outfield "play".:angry::angry::angry:

He almost lost a game on by himself the other night. He's horrible in the outfield. I'd put him back at 2B

MLB hitters are stubborn people. However, Soriano has always swing at pitches outside of the strike zone. I mean, I remember he hit a homer in Game 7 of the World Series against Curt Schilling on a pitch that was darn near in the dirt. I've seen him do it with the Cubs as well. Soriano is a solid hitter...he is just no Fukudome when it comes to plate patience. Soriano carried the Cubs in September last year. Without him Chicago would have lost the NL Central.

It's not easy missing 15 games and then trying to pay a MLB game at full speed. I don't care how long you have been playing.

Moreover, I think folks are blowing his outfield defense at little bit out of proportion.

Yes, he made two bad plays Friday in St. Louis, but he's played well for the year or so in Chicago. He led the NL in outfield assists. Sure, he does not like to crash into the brink wall at Wrigley, but he makes the routine plays. That's all you can ask for.

He's a b@tch . Non-outfield playin' azz. Free swingin' mf. The Cubs were doing so much better when he wasn't in the line up..He better right his ship and fast.

He had to hit a home run Friday night to make up for that half azz effort when he missed played that fly ball at the wall. He need to take notes from Reed Johnson or Lou punk azz need to sub him in the 8th every time we have the lead.

Reed Johnson is a good little player but he's no Soriano. Reed Johnson was released by the Blue Jays. Folks are so quick to forget Soriano hit 33 homers and had a .290 average while missing time on the DL. If you take him out of the lineup, the team will struggle. Yes, his defense is bad, but name me LF in baseball who have great gloves.

Manny is a horrible outfielder but you do not hear folks talking about taking him out in the late innings.

Bruh, Manny and Soriano don't even go in the same sentence. Manny is a PROFESSIONAL HITTER. Soriano is a PROFESSIONAL HACKER. I wish they would have went after Carl Crawford. Somebody with a good bat, great glove, and will actually steal bases. The Cubs really need to go get Brian Roberts and slap him in the leadoff hole, but Fukudome in the 2 hole and slide Soriano down to the 5 hole where he can swing for the fences all he wants. If he don't watch out, Geovany Soto could take that 5 hole from him.

Heck, I wanted Carl Crawford and the Cubs tried to get him last offseason, but Tampa wanted the farm for him. The Cubs had Brian Roberts, but the owner in Baltimore thinks he can get more for Roberts on July 31 than he could have in Spring Training.

Roberts even said his agent told him he was traded to the Cubs, but the Orioles owner nixed the deal because he wanted more players. It would not be smart for the Cubs to give Baltimore 6-7 players for one guy.

I don't think Lou can afford to bat Soriano in the fifth spot. I know it appears to make sense because he is such a free swinger, but Soriano has far better numbers hitting No. 1 than any slot in the lineup. I think Fukudome would make a great 1 or 2 hitter, but with him at 5 balances out the lineup because he gets on base all the time and can drive in runs.

Johnson was recovering from a back injury just like Joe Crede(punk azz white sox), but can field his azz off (I see you forgot about his catch at the wall). He's a contact hitter with a better average. Let Soriano bat 6th and call it a day.

Reed Johnson makes one catch in Washington and all of a sudden he is a cult hero. No. Reed Johnson is a role player. He is a solid ballplayer, but yet, a role player. Johnson has no threat of hitting homers and will not drive in runs. He is a No. 8 hitter. That's it. Soriano, while a free swinger, has better numbers in the leadoff spot than anywhere else.

That's why he hits leadoff. Lou tried to hit him behind Lee last year and he went 0-for-10. He has to hit leadoff.

what they need to do is wait till he gets hot and trade his ass somewhere. Oakland is trying to unload Blanton and/or Harden. We need to get one of them because as it is now, I don't see our rotation being strong enough to go head to head with (Webb, Haren, and Co. in Arizona). Marquis has shown you that he sucks. You don't know how long Dempster can hold out, and you never know which Ted Lilly is gone show up. I would say the Cubs need another bat and another pitcher.

Find some kind of way to get Griffey or Dunn from the Reds.

Why would the Cubs trade Soriano when he gets hot? That makes no sense. If he is hitting, it only helps the team. Plus, no team will be willing to take on that salary except the Yankees, Red Sox and possibly the Mets. But those teams have tons of money tied up in players already.

Blanton and Harden would certainly help. I?ll take those guys over Roberts because pitching is way more important than a leadoff hitter.
As for getting Dunn and Junior...I don?t know. Dunn strikes out way too much and is a horrible outfielder as well. It would be like getting another Soriano--just a white.

Griffey, the key would for him to be healthy. He can?t play center anymore and the Cubs will not move Soriano to center and weaken the defense any further. The Cubs need to just leave him at N0.1.
At the end of the season Soriano will hit his 30-35 homers and drive in 75-80 runs.

you trade Soriano when he's hot because obviously he's more attractive and valuable, and you could possibly fleece somebody for more than they would usually give you. If the cat is struggling, folks are gonna try to lowball you. That's common sense.

The Cubs can't trade him because he makes too much money. Soriano is owed $17-$19 million for the next 5 years!!! No team outside the Yankees or Red Sox or Mets will take him. Those teams will not take him either because they already have big payrolls. The Mets just signed Santana to a huge deal.

The Yankees tied up A-Rod and the Red Sox are going to have to pay Ortiz and Manny and Beckett. The Cubs are stuck with Soriano like it or not. There is not a market for him now because no team will be willing to take on that salary to grab him.

DGTM, pound for pound Soriano is the best slugger in the game. It's amazing to look at his size and see the numbers he puts up. He might struggle some, but at the end of the year he will be in the top 10 in all batting categories.

Soriano is a solid ball player. He just needs to realize the difference between being hurt and being injured. The DUDE swings a 35. How many 185 lb. men can swing a 35 @ a 95 MPH fast ball with bad wheels. He is playing himself back into baseball shape. This will take a while but the boy can still play the game.

Well, well, well. Looks like I was right yet again. Soriano has homered in each of the last three games and has 11 hits in his last 22 at-bats. I told you guys just be patient because the man will rake. And he has.

Yeah, I was waiting on this sh@t. I'll give it to him, he gettin' his money. It was nice to see him do well against Peavy. I just said he's not a lead-off hitter.

I'm sorry but I still say he isn't a lead-off hitter. I really don't like the fact that they have brought in ancient Jim Edmonds. Pie gives you a good glove. Let the mane bat 8th and get more experience. Certainly they aren't gonna bat strikeout machine Edmonds 5th ahead of Fukudome.

Boston and Arizona really don?t have the ideal leadoff man either and those teams are at the top of the division. The Cubs really don?t have a leadoff man to replace Soriano at this point. Even when he was out, Theriot and Johnson did not do that well.

I don?t think that Edmonds will work out in the end, but the move buys time for Pie to get his swing right. Lou changed his stance and swing about two weeks ago in Colorado. However, he had not gotten a bunch of at-bats since then. Pie needs to be in the lineup every day and Lou wanted to platoon him with Johnson. That does not work with a guy so young. He?s only 23.

The move also gives the Cubs a power bat from the left side which they desperate needed. I know they have Ward, but he can?t play the outfield at all. I think a move you might see if Edmonds does not work is the Cubs moving Fukudome to center and calling up Micah (something) from AAA who was hitting the cover off the ball during spring training and have him play right.

Just got back from Wrigley Field and it looks like Soriano is still on fire. Two homers and five hits today. I was stitting five rows from the field and Sori has his swing back. He needs to stay at leadoff. A .298 average and 10 homers is not bad.
