Alcorn hires ex-Valley coach

Alcorn State has hired ex-Mississippi Valley State coach LaTraia Jones as its defensive coordinator.

Jones replaces Karl Morgan, who went to Hampton. Jones was 5-28 in three seasons (1999-01) at Valley.

"He brings a wealth of experience on the defensive side of the ball, and he's someone with head coaching experience," Alcorn coach Johnny Thomas said. "When he was (defensive coordinator) at Arkansas-Pine Bluff, he had the top defense two years in a row."

The Braves begin spring practice Monday
 



I feel ya GR, but I'll give 'em the benefit of the doubt. Remember we hired a PV reject... and he turned out to be the best DC in the SWAC. And besides... this is the sports board. snicker But who knows?
 
Yeah, but we hired someone based on how he was able to stop our offense, who the hell did LaTria ever stop? Man this is not going to end well.....but then again, I can see why everyone is picking Alcorn over JSU. Now I get the picture.

Why dont they hire the guy they had 3 years ago? He was pretty good.
