Alabama State vs Arkansas-Pine Bluff Game Updates: 4:05pm CT

Why didn't they move it up to noon? Poor planning by the ADs

Not necessarily. Did you consider that having the broadcast on ESPN3 may have precluded any opportunity to move the game "up" and keep the broadcast? Perhaps that question will be asked on the Weekly Coaches' Press Conference.

There shouldn't be a winner since they didn't even make it to halftime.
The game is a ruled a “no contest” since the game did not make it into the second half. The same ruling was made in the 2016 MEAC /SWAC Challenge game between Alcorn & Bethune Cookman.

I don’t think UAPB wanted to finish the game lol. I knew this was a bad matchup for them.

Why would my team not want to finish the game? My Golden Lions were eager to continue their pursuit to prove themselves. They haven’t been on the field since 2019. Why would they NOT want to finish the game? It would take more than a 3-point deficit for the Golden Lions to not want to finish any game.

And since when did a conference game become “a bad matchup”? This was scheduled back last year and I don’t recall you or anyone from Bama State or me or anyone else saying this. Was the UAPB/SU game a bad matchup? Was the UAPB/GSU game a bad matchup? What other conference games are bad matchups for us?

Hi Lioness , how are you. The bad weather was forecasted to come thru the area at 5 pm. Why start the game at 4pm , which only left a hour to complete the game. Zero rain was forecasted from 12pm-5pm. If they really wanted to get the game in, I think they would have moved it up to a earlier time.

I agree the game should have been moved up to a much earlier time if that is what the science prognosticated. However, I'm not sure of UAPB's rationale for not doing so. Perhaps they have some facts not made available to the public or even Bama State had some extenuating circumstances/input in the decision as well. One just has to roll with what it is.

Y'all can live in denial all you want. I still say the worst employees in America work at HBCUS, Walmart, McDonald's and Burger King. They want the pay check but refuse to put the work in. Sometimes shaking the bush unravels the leaves that's needed for growth.

It appears the game was originally supposed to start at 6 pm but was moved to 4 pm in anticipation of weather impacting the game. I guess whoever was monitoring the weather must have believed or saw that storms wouldn’t affect the game.

Sweetie, pls excuse his ignorance. His knowledge is severely lacking, so don't allow his bias opinion to intrude upon your serenity.

Starting the game so close to pending inclement weather shows a lack of care for the students, staff and fans.

Baseball games get moved up all of the time to get the game in before weather gets bad. What made this game different?

Hello V; I’m doing well and hope the same for you and mother.
Thank you for clarifying. I guess I read a little too much in to your post. This whole Spring football just got me all twisted and anxious! I’m just ready for my team to be done so they can get somewhere and sit down! 🪑
I actually thought our game was scheduled for noon. It would make perfect sense to move the game up sooner, I agree. But just because the forecast predicted one thing is no guarantee it will actually happen. And I don’t think there was any ulterior motive behind moving the game. It’s illogical (like I’m Vulcan 🖖🏾) to schedule a game that would both us and Bama State at risk of playing while lightning ⚡️ is flashing). Bad call? Maybe. Intentional? No.

I just needed a little more explanation, my sweet. Nothing more, nothing less.

There are a lot of guys on the Forums that are well-knowledgeable of football, and I’ve come to respect, admire, and even trust some (not all) of their knowledge and take their views and opinions on the subject.

I don’t consider him or any one of my “go-to gurus of the gridiron” as having ignorance. I just needed him to make what he said make sense to me. No harm, no foul.

I agree and will ask our interim AD

Thanks. It’s bad enough Dat Rona is still out here in the streets. It’s a whole ‘nother thing not to take all necessary steps to ensure the game could be played in the safest possibility of conditions.
