He is not leaving Alcorn for another FCS job. His family is from Vicksburg with a 45 minute drive to Alcorn. Now USM maybe because he is on their top 10 list to replace Monken if USM don't turn it around. Hopson is one of the reasons USM is in the bind they are in, Hopson stole all of USM recruits the last 2 years in a row. Now we might lose our OC and DC if we win the SWAC.

The success the Braves are having right now just only shows if you have the right folks in place, better recruiting and invest in the program the results are positive.

It's a shame Alcorn won't be able to go any further than the SCG. They might actually be able to do some damage with that team.

Alcorn looked great last night. The defense is quick.

I can't wait to see Big Mike's photos from last night's game. :emlaugh:

Congrats to Alcorn! They played a great game and wanted it more. I said it last night that our guys just looked slow starting with the first drive of the game and Alcorn never allowed them to try to get on track.

For the past couple of years, I thought Arnold Walker was one of the toughest runners in the SWAC, but after seeing Alcorn's backs last night....Arnold who? LOL

Where da hell did these guys come from?

Alcorn is loaded.

S.O.S. Last year we heard the same thing and Jones beat them like slaves.

Don't worry Ala. A&M we haven't forgotten about you. The discussion immediately turned to 'the other Bama' after the game.

both of yall must pay for the crimes you have committed against SWAC Royal Blood

This is true. I said it before that he will leave after this year and I stick to it. He ain't leaving for a Southland job even with a larger budget. It's Sun Belt jobs and higher.

That being said, Alcorn is playing some of the most dominant football in the SWAC in a while. I am enjoying watching it while he is here. He is proving that you can play a good competitive brand of football in the SWAC (he's doing it in rural Mississippi at one of the smallest D1 schools in the nation). I don't want to hear anyone else discount that 6 point loss to USM. The SWAC normally doesn't compete with MVC and OVC schools let alone FBS schools.

Like someone said, Hopson is forcing other schools to do some soul searching and see what they have to do to compete. Spady, Fobbs and Comegy are first year coaches so we will see what they will do with a full class (especially Spady and Fobbs)

Tried to warn them. Folks need to stop discounting that USM game. That should have been an indicator right there. The only other school at this point that could give USM a competitive game is ASU because of their running game (AAMU and Grambling are still a year away)

Over the summer I predicted that this was Alcorn's year. My prediction is proving to be true. I wonder though, what is Barlow's fate at Bama St? I mean, how much longer will they keep him on board without winning an SCG? He has gotten rid of then hired the coaches he wanted. He has the best stadium in all of HBCUs and better than many mid-majors. He has had major FBS transfers. He has even had scheduling in his favor. Still, no SCG. Hornet fans, are you guys still content or are you ready to move on?

As most folks on here know, I'm no Barlow fan (lol), but I disagree about this being a favorable schedule for ASU. This was the 4th game in 20 days. On the road, on a Thursday. Against the best team in the conference. Including the MCC, we have a stretch of 4 straight road games.

still?

Our conference schedule has been crazy since last year opening up against the defending Eastern Division champs followed by the SWAC Champs on the road to open the season. Now this year, we played 4 games in 20 days.

Dang you Bama State. I forgot to change to the Corn. But I told old Sting about the corn but he wasn't convinced. Their defense is legit(yeah he highlighted that part) along with the rest of the team. Man I watch them eat us up. At least we scored 30+ on them...LOL

It wouldn't have mattered anyway, Alcorn would have beaten you with 10 days of rest

Natural Grass slowed them and Alcorns Defense is Legit!!!Told you mane!!!

I told them to 97. I even went a step further and told them about Ragsdale. And he "Jimmy the Cricket" them too. LOL!!!!!

Hornets can't get anything going, down by 17 they will have to go away from their strength....the running game.

To me, Fred Kaiss is not a good OC. Never have been a fan of his playcalling but typically when he has two good RBs, your azz is grazz! Last night. I don't think AlaState knew what their strength was.

Their playcalling was the main difference. It seemed like they were just a step ahead.

I agree, notice how every other game that Kaiss used Khalid Thomas at running back but didn't use him once last night. Alcorn knew we would go to Cyrus but they shut him down and Kaiss didn't adjust to that
