Alabama State University is bracing for financial penalties to its athletic department.
The school's 2004 budget, which its board of trustees approved Thursday, includes $150,000 in athletic department-related fines and fees.
ASU President Joe Lee said the school arrived at $150,000 by working with Robert Clayton, whose investigation led to the suspension of three football coaches last month.
"We don't know how much (the fines) will be yet, but we have to be prepared," Lee said. "We worked with the investigator and looked at similar situations."
The school suspended head football coach L.C. Cole and two assistants Aug. 1 and alleged the program had committed major NCAA violations.
Alabama State submitted a report to the NCAA in July after an eight-month investigation into the football program.
