this is why i hate this new skool shat. i wasn't there, but i'm also glad i wasn't. i wouldn't have ever wanted to see Gump and us battle before the Classic, sorry thats how i was brought in. hell my first couple years marching, we didn't even see yall until the Classic. takes away from the rivalry, IMO. all this "got a sneak peak for Classic" is bullshat to me. i don't want sneak peaks, just give me the CLASSIC.

now that i got that out, explain how did they get caught slippin? from what i heard, they were leaving, and yall started blowing. sounds sneaky to me. why would blow after they are attempting to leave, and what makes you think we weren't gonna turn around and blow back in our own house? dis aint the crampton, and we aint payin rent.

I actually feel you on the Classic thing. I ain't even want A&M there @ the BOTB in the Gump when I marched. so I guess it ain't just a old skool thing ~shrugs~


but on the "sneaky" tip...were they blowing AT AAMU? Or just blowing in the stands? If they was blowing AT A&M while they were leaving, then I can understand. If they were just blowing in the stands, then why'd A&M run back in the stands? Wasn't sneaky...A&M just felt ho3'd, IMO.

But I wasn't there...just asking and stating MY opinions...

i feel you. we didn't start going to those BOTBs till 2000, and Wesley had us in and out, marched in straight to the field at the time of our performance slot, performed, uturned, and left. we never even sat down in the Gump, Bham(i don't think), we did once in Mobile.

oh and the new skool comment was in reference to the direction of our program and the "new" way it's being ran(HATE IT), not necessarily about when you crabbed. i know there are a few new skool folks who don't like it, and there are some ole skool folks who liked it. it's preference, but i can't stand it.

Everything was booked for them just like everybody else; hotel, transportation, food, etc. The promoters contacted(paid)a reputable bus company for bus service to/from/back to, and that was that. They(promoters) had know say so as to what year model buses that would be provided.

Many feel the same as you, "a bus is a bus"...a 2002 Model from my understanding; the Band Director saw that as unfit for TxSU, so he pulled out.

Its all good though. The event was very successful and received well; not to mention the extra money that was saved. :tup:

From what I was told by people in the band. The Band Director called the hotel and the bus company and nothing was reserved for TSU. They found this out, the day before they were scheduled to leave...

The promoters have bank then, because 30,000 is a heavy check. I was told they were supposed to take 6 buses down there and stay for two nights. that's a lot of money

Did TxSo not know they were playing AAMU on that Saturday????

I mean its on the schedule...has been since January 2007.

TxSo is on some Bullschit. Point Blank.

It's over. Everything was done and nothing was left out except for the people that needed to get on the buses and stay in the hotels that they were assigned to. Everyone else made it to the event and I'm sure the promoters will try to make communications better the next time around. Let's not make bad blood on this. It could be a win-win situation in the future as I surely would like for Texas Southern to make a trip to AAMU. That will pretty much guarantee a trip to Texas for the MMW. Let's try it again, in 2009.

No they travel to Alcorn as well.......
As they will be this time for the Nov 13 Alcorn vs AAMU game at the Reservation...

The only reason they did not go to Valley last year was AAMU picked that weekend to swear in their new president

We don't travel to every game and i'm pretty sure you know some of the financial difficulties we are facing by being a regular on this message board. So you are on some BS with that statement...Plus, why would our band want to go to AAMU? Its a given that we'll always go to SU and GSU...

Valley, Grambling (not this year though), Alcorn... basically every away game besides the Texas games.

He's talking about
a) neither band has EVER traveled to see the other
b) Texas Southern University has been in the SWAC a LONG time and probably in the early days during Butler's running of the band didn't even PLAY Alabama A&M. You're misunderstanding him. His money comment was a serious one. The Ocean has experienced promoters TELLING them to come and scheduling them but not actually HAVING the money like these guys did. It was a first time thing to consider AAMU for the botb AND the game and it didn't work out this time. He's not dissing AAMU. Matter of fact no one from our camp has, ever, on any subject. Keep that in mind.
