Alabama A&M?

Our homes games are on TV though. With the right link anyone can watch them.

Root sports do not stream their content....although talking with one of the tech guys he says it wouldn't be hard for us to stream their content over our PantherVision site.

you gonna pay for the production costs? a TV broadcast that is ESPN quality ready will run $20K

you can go cheaper but you'll notice....all you need is a hard internet connection, quality bandwidth, several great cameras, talent, graphics package, etc. and your in business...lol

some schools already live stream and charge so not too many people can get in

According to the TxSU alum on Facebook who does call games for ESPN3 I believe, all it costs is around $5000-$6000 total. He's mentioned this a few times when the streaming topic is concerned. I would pay talent to call the games (heck you got HBCU alums like me who are itching to use their Communications degree lol) but you can use Mass Comm majors to work the boards and cameras as well as do sideline reporting (that's what the Longhorn Network does)

I wonder why all SWAC team don't live stream. There are a number of new stations where camera men at looking for part-time gigs. Plus have a telecommunications program provides great experience for a student.
We seem to be collectively allergic to showcasing our own products.

We are in the Buisness of making money lol. If I streamed it, I wouldn't do it for free like some schools.
Money isn't made without demand. So you'd have to weight the demand vs publicity which may be different for each institution. But overall at this point I think the publicity would win. Was just talking to a coworker that wasn't interested in the PPV game his ranked FBS team was playing last weekend.

Doing it free upfront may actually spark the demand anyway.

Speaking for SU only, we have a demand. Why give it away free and take away from our bottom line. SU has to not spend anything, as we can stream the Cox feed, and use or radio guys for the broadcast.

Nope, not fair to those who already has broadcast deals in place.
Longhorn network, hello.

+1. Schools need to learn to fend for themselves, imo. It shouldn't take conf leadership to pry schools to understand they have comm/sftwr majors/depts on campus that are being underutilized.

SU was way ahead of itself in the early 1990s when you all brokered those deals. (Late 1980s????)

I think that's great. SU does a great job of building an audience. I'm speaking generally though. If you've got a contract with Cox to air games I highly doubt they'd allow you to stream it for free anyway.

I'm thinking of schools especially with communications departments that don't have any current deals. They could not only be showcasing their athletics but the abilities of their communications departments to potential students and potential employers. If they've got the demand then for sure charge for it.

Good luck with that.

The SWAC stands for the Southwestern ATHLETIC conference. Not the Southwestern Advisory-to-Academic-NeoNegroes-who-dont-care-about-athletics Conference

Yes Cox does. They don't stream games, and we discussed this in the Jaguar Nation with folks that work in athletics before SU started streaming games
