If it is a lie, tell the Luke brothers they are telling a lie.

Were you on campus when they visited TSU? NO. There are some of us that live in Nashville, know more about what is happening on campus that you -

Im telling you what they said in their hometown newspapers and in the Huntsville TImes... you are going to believe what you want to hear.. but I would rather believe the source itself. They also said TSU coaches have been calling them harrassing them on the phone. No way AAMU guaranteed any one of them a position... We have 7 quarterbacks.... He started off on the 4th team and stayed there for 2 weeks until the first scrimmage. Like I said you can choose to believe who you want to believe and I will choose to believe who I want to believe... NEITHER of us will never know the real truth.

back to the game.... 22 First downs and SEVEN points.

because that is a LIE... they have said that in many different newspapers... They visited TSU's campus and didnt like the area it was in and the housing situations.... they then visited AAMU and liked the campus, area and housing better then decided to transfer to AAMU. They werent guaranteed starting positions at either school.

This is the first that i've heard this. Anyway, IF it's true, then ole' coach might wanna have those brothas get their vision checked immediately, lol.

Luke brothers stick together

Pair elects to play for Alabama A&M

BY CHRISTA TURNER

Staff Writer

They face a backfield loaded with returning players, but the Luke brothers will be together at Alabama A&M University.

Nic and Kelcy Luke, both former standouts at Central-Phenix City High, have shifted gears and will now transfer to A&M, a Division I-AA school in Huntsville, Ala.

Kelcy Luke, a redshirt freshman, left Auburn University, while Nic Luke, a sophomore, left the University of Alabama. Previously, they announced plans to transfer to Tennessee State in Nashville, Tenn.

<b>"The campus (in Nashville) wasn't like we thought it would be," Kelcy Luke said. "We had opportunities at both schools. The opportunity is wide open for both of us. We're just looking to help out and go up there and compete."</b>

Kelcy Luke (6-foot-1, 200 pounds) competed for Auburn's backup quarterback position during the spring but exited practices as Auburn's No. 3 quarterback behind starter Jason Campbell and Brandon Cox.

Facing the same remaining eligibility as Cox, Luke elected to transfer.

Alabama used Nic Luke sparingly last season, prompting the 6-1, 220-pound running back to again seek his release from the Crimson Tide. Nic Luke requested a transfer before the 2003 season so he could transfer to Division II Tuskegee, but Alabama refused.

Nic Luke called the situation at Alabama "tough" and said he looks forward to competing at Alabama A&M.

"I wanted to be happy," Nic Luke said. "There was a good chance I'd be playing at Alabama, but I wanted to get in a situation I'd feel a lot better in."

The Bulldogs compete in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. They finished the 2003 season at 8-4.

Finding playing time this season won't be easy for the brothers. The Bulldogs return starting quarterback Johnny Keith and primary backup Timothy Robinson, who combined to pass for more than 2,100 yards last year.

At running back, the Bulldogs return their No. 2 leading rusher, Lanier Bush, as well as several other experienced players.

Luke brothers eager for chances to play

Nic and Kelcy Luke are expected to make their eagerly awaited debuts Saturday night when Alabama A&M visits Tennessee State.

Nic will be the Bulldogs' backup tailback, while Kelcy is A&M's backup quarterback.

"I'm just excited to be playing," said Nic, a redshirt sophomore transfer from Alabama who has yet to carry the football in a college game.

"The last time I carried the ball was in high school. I'm really anxious to see what I can do."

Like his brother, Kelcy is equally excited.

"I'm looking forward to it," said Kelcy, a redshirt freshman transfer from Auburn. "I've waited for an opportunity to play for a long time."

Ironically, the Luke brothers will make their debut against one of the teams that wanted them. However, after they decided to come to A&M, they weren't received very well by TSU officials.

"I didn't like the way one of their coaches was coming at me and my brother," Kelcy said. "He was saying we were scared of competition. We're not scared of competition. We just didn't like it and didn't feel comfortable.

"I'm eager to show them we weren't running from competition. We just didn't like it."

So is it competition or the campus!

No spin is needed.

When Kelcy said

"He was saying we were scared of competition. We're not scared of competition. We just didn't like it and didn't feel comfortable.

The kid is obviously saying that they didn't like the fact that the coach was telling them they didn't like competition because they left Alabama and Auburn when it became apparent that they weren't going to start. Would you want to play for a coach that is questioning why you came to play for them when it's obvious that you will need these guys next year or a coach that says you will have an opportunity to play, but you have to earn it?

This is such a no issue and it looks as though you guys are realizing that when whoever the coach was confronted those kids in that manner. He didn't think about next year you will need a back to replace Anthony. I'm sure those guys knew before hand that they weren't gonna start at TnSU especially in the RB position. So, what is all the concern about? It's about next year and what you could've had instead your big mouth coach ran the brothers off.

It seems we are getting more TnSU posters to show their faces now than before the game. I wonder where you were before you won?

Did they sign or decided to go to A&M after they realized there would be competition!

Read the ARTICLE!

I'm positive a TSU official wouldn't have contacted these kids if they had signed with A&M.

Lets stick with the facts.

But can you really blame the kids for wanting to attend TSU first!

However they change their minds because they don't like the campus.

Give me a break!

Trust me it's the competition!

they would have to go through MORE competition at AAMU than TSU... lookin the the long run... Anthony is a SENIOR... none of AAMU's running backs are seniors..... also AAMU already have SIX quarterbacks ... 3 already at AAMU and 3 signees... Luke started off as the 4th string qb in the preseason.... one of the qbs was moved to wide receiver and he beat out another qb to put him at second. He would have came into TSU as at least the 2nd string qb because I dont think Riley could beat him out. I dont even believe Luke will be the future of AAMU at the qb posistion... the best qb we have this year is redshirting... the cat from DC... soon as he gets some size he will probably start next year. Saturday was Lukes first college game and he had not taken a snap in over 2 years... He will be ok. Keith can move the ball, but the ints REALLY hurt us... I only blaim him for 3 of them.. the other was just a great play be the db.... but when he wasnt throwing the ball to the wrong team he played a great game. He had 160 passing yards at the half.

Preciate ya, but don't be acting like we're Jacksonville State and we don't bring a crowd to Normal. We'll mess around and get a call from Grambing or Southern and we'll drop ya like you were in the CIAA. :uhoh:

Yes TSU does bring a nice crowd to AAMU... probably only SU brings more fans.... but honestly does TSU bring as many people to Huntsville than AAMU brought to TSU this past weekend???? In the first quarter there was more maroon and white at the stadium than blue and white.... TSU's side filled up in the second quarter though. Our visitors side only seats 5,000... and I KNOW there were way more than 5,000 at the Coliseum.... this is a game that will definitely blow up one day though....

I HONESTLY wish the basketball games werent played during Christmas break though.

Yep, Those Bulldogs were ready and waiting. My first thoughts were it would be a shame if A&M outnumber us in own stadium but our fans were fashionably late and soon it looked as though the whole lower ring was going to fill up. This is a natural rivalry and should continue for years to come.

Bulldog

What's up,

The game is over -

I cannot remember anyone saying that the Luke's were "starters" for A&M. I wish them luck as well as A&M for the remainder of the season.

dahill, yes A&M defeated TSU for the past two years, "while you are talking" post the series record.
