Alabama A&M University outranks all other Alabama universities and big national names such as Harvard when it comes to serving the educational goals of the country, according to a ranking produced by the Washington Monthly.

The magazine has been critical of the closely watched U.S. News & World Report college rankings, which tend to recognize schools that attract affluent students with high test scores and prestigious professors.
