AIG bonuses - Information

Re: AIG CEO says employees starting to return bonuses

But when a c- idiot was in control it was because of his genius. You republicans are all alike. You just can't bring yourself to give the other guy credit because it reaffirms you made a mistake.

You're dying inside ain't ya?

You must completely over-read this part.

This would make us just as stupid as those idiots who sat by thinking Bush dumb azz was the second coming when he was really the cause for this sh*t in the first place.

I didn't vote for Bush either time nor did I vote for McCain, so I made the best decision every time. Being in a political party doesn't mean voting for whoever is on the ballot. You vote for the best individual, and I did and he is doing a good job in a tough situation, I have no problem saying that. I'm not going to blame B.O. for something that was alreadu in the making, but I'm not going to give credit to him for stuff that happened that he didn't initialize.

Re: AIG CEO says employees starting to return bonuses

Sleep,

I thought everyone knew the FED has the power to crash the stock market and make it go....After all that's the cover up which is controlled by those who owns the privates banks that makes money out of thin air....

Yep. The FED gets treasury notes which is debt certificates and the government has to pay that back to the FED plus interest.

How the Fed failed to tell Obama about bonuses

Federal Reserve officials knew for months about bonuses at American International Group but failed to tell the Obama administration, according to government and company officials, exposing problems in a relationship that is vital to addressing the financial crisis.

As pressure mounted on AIG employees to return the bonuses, new details emerged yesterday about what the Fed, the Treasury Department and the White House knew regarding the payments and when. AIG executives said the Fed was informed three months ago by the company that it would pay $165 million by March 15 to employees working at its most troubled division. The Treasury and White House said they learned of the payments from Fed officials only days before they were due.

Close coordination between the Fed and the administration is now more important than ever as they near the launch of two signature programs to rescue the financial system, which together could reach $2 trillion and are aimed at reviving consumer lending and purchasing soured assets and loans from ailing banks.

House passes bill taxing AIG, other bonuses

Measure places a 90 percent tax on some bailout related bonuses

WASHINGTON - The House passed a bill on Thursday that would impose punishing taxes on big employee bonuses from firms bailed out by taxpayers.

Democrats pressed for the quick action.

"The American people demand protection and that's what we're doing today," said Rep. Charles Rangel, D-N.Y., chairman of the tax-writing House Ways and Means Committee.

Re: House passes bill taxing AIG, other bonuses

Looks like Congress is finally showing some testicular fortitude. I wholeheartly agree with what has been revealed so far in this bill. I'm curious as to how you earn a bonus when if not for government intervention, your company would be bankrupt. It would seem that these bonuses are not performance based. I mean, what is the criteria, show up for work and you get a bonus.:upset::kaioken:
