Ummmmm I think you're reaching a little here. Don't get me wrong I have addressed my let down of jsu'S sound even as a fan of the boom this year. With that being said even on this day, jsu did very well in this battle in my opinion. boom fans know this is a transition year of the guard at band director and we have to be open to change both in sound and on the field. As for AAMU, they've transitioned for old school aamu with trumpets leading to a much balanced sound. My problem with them is not their execution but they're spots where they take chances in their arranging. Moments that make the crowd roar in excitement ... Not saying a band has to crank their minds out but having moments in arrangements can make aamu a serious powerhouse. They just execute the bare minimum for me as a musical ear... I want more chances in arrangement like that ewf tune ... Wasn't cranked, played like a ballad with moving parts, and flowed well and the crowd reaction showed it. Aamu is on its way, but jsu has been improving from game to game to me in their sound .... I heard trumpets finally., however the mid brass can tone down some so the lower brass can come through more and the trumpets can shine.... That's been their let down this year.... Nobody says anything about the booms execution.... They need to bring more life in their drills and it starts with faster tempos and weeding out people who don't know how to sacrifice volume over the overall sound of the boom. Little is working ... Grade them from the shc to this game and you can hear the differences in their sound. Much respect to both programs their moving up under new leadership and that's all that should matter among the band heads ... Just got to be patient with their flaws until they are more established under the new leadership.
