uuuum,,, now uuuh,, i saw a cut of this,,, and unless the woman is hitting the kid in the face or in the chest or something(and depending perhaps on how old the child is), what's the big deal? :confused:

so any parent caught whipping their child could now be arrested depending on the circumstances of the whipping??

Yes, I did make a point to enter caviots since it wasn't clear from the tape the size of the kid, where/how the woman was hitting the kid, so on and so forth. Upon further review, yes, ole girl did "sucker punch" the 4 year old several times,,,,, but are you telling me I need to see this on national news? :confused:

C'mon V! I'm out here in freaking California seeing this on local news channel's evening news and of coarse your CNNs & such! That's a bit much don't you think? I mean,, they run the video there, in the region, end of store, don't you think? :confused:

Besides, all this is going to do is further ratchet up the issue. Watch, now we are going to see a string of these type stories. :rolleyes:
 
You got a point about the overexposure. I think it was just the shock value that a camera that was probably installed to catch shoplifters/carjackers etc. caught a woman beating the isht outta her child ...

She is turning herself in tomorrow according to her lawyer who was also all over the tube. Maybe she is a child abuser, I don't know, and this is a good catch. who knows,, but still, the slippery slope here could get out of hand real quick.

on the lighter side, you know,,, I sho wish dey had dem CC cameras mounted back in the 70s in dem parking lots and inside dem grocery stores when I got spanked,,, for nuthin',, :goodbad: :D

If you dont think that this was a heinous and sick act on the mother's part and dont understand why it is being aired then you really need counseling. Hell no, I dont think it is a bit much. I hope like hell you dont think it is acceptable behavior and have kids.

I don't think that ANYONE is condoning this type of behavior. She needs her ass HAZED for what she did. I think the issue here is the fact that it is PLASTERED all over the television.

My guess is because they can't find her or that baby now, and the authorities fear for the child's safety ... with good reason!

Should parents discipline their kids by striking them in any way with anything including their hands, YES or NO?

They had no problem finding moms.

The mom said yesterday, and her lawyer was on the news yesterday saying she would turn herself in. She turned herself in today according to Headline News.

Children should be discipline and one way is corporeal punishment, which I do, but no often because my child is not unruly. But striking them in any way and with anything is not discipline, it is a crime. It is abuse, battery and if they use a brick, iron, skillet, 2 x 4, if they choke, punch, kick, bite, drag, poison, etc then it is AGGRAVATED battery. It is NEVER all right to abuse a child. Spanking them, giving them a WHIPPING (or if you from North LA a whupping) is not abuse.

Scriptually we are directed to discipline, "spare the rod, spoil the child". But that doesn't mean taking a rod and fracture their skull.

Bart, there is a clear line, and that dayum woman crossed it.

and trust me I don't spare the rod but I normally administer some type of punishment. They hate going to bed early. :D

The way I asked that question was bad. It just didn't come out right. What I meant to ask was:

Should parents discipline their kids in a physical manner, YES or NO.

I want to establish (with JROCK especially) what your basic phylosophy is on what type of disciplining of children is acceptable. Some people believe you should not physically engage a child under any circumstance. I'm trying to find out if that is the position I'm dealing with here.

After that is established, then I was going to get into just what, in our opinions, is acceptable and unacceptable physical punishment.

Obviously from my comedic sketch, I have no problems with spankings. MY definition of spanking is:
  • Hitting a child on the hand, butt or legs with the hand.
  • Hitting a child on the butt or legs with a belt or a switch.

When I was young, I got plenty of that (for good reason every time, except the times when somebody done something bad and nobody would tell who done it and Mom/Dad/Aunt/Uncle said, "alright then, i'm gonna whip ALL of ya!") but I was never punched in the face, punched or hit anywhere else besides the butt, legs and hand.

I see absolutely ZERO problem with that discipline paradigm. What if a child is spanked in the manners I described above today and it were caught on camera? Will it be blasted all over the nation and a man hunt launched for the parent also?! Who decides what is over the line?? WHO I SAY??!!! :uhoh:

At first I thought it wasn;t that bad cause she was swinging wild like some folk do when whooping, but at the end I thought I saw punching motions. You got a lil out of hand at the end.

By this account my Mama needs to be serving time for several accounts of choking, hair pulling, dragging, iron-near-face, knife-near-throat, kicking, punching, slap-in-the-face-in-the-of-the mall, pushing through a closet door, stomping, beating with telephone cord, switch, slipper, .....:redhot:


I hate any form of child abuse or battery of a person who is helpless.... HATE IT!

Thursday the woman was public enemy #1. The media was showing the incident like the Rodney King beat down.

NOOOOOOOOW all of a sudden, THE DEEUM WOMAN IS A FREAKING CELEB, AND THE SAME MEDIA THAT WAS VILLANIZING HER, IS NOW FALLING ALL OVER HER, FLYING HER ACROSS THE COUNTRY FOR INTERVIEWS, MORNING SHOWS, she'll be on David Letterman or one of the late nights soon,, or Opra or that Oxygen channel. :redhot: this is unbelievable to me.

,,, and WTF happen to the blond hair???? hmmmm?:confused: :rolleyes: :redhot: heck, i didn't know the woman!

If you care about the beating aspect, it is all being lost in the wash now and the woman is a deeum movie star. We, in this country, simply have tooooo much time on our hands. We need a real crisis of some kind. This is just ridiculous. :rolleyes:
