65 Girls At Area School Pregnant
School To Unveil Three-Prong Program

UPDATED: 10:19 am EDT August 26, 2005

CANTON, Ohio -- There are 490 female students at Timken High School, and 65 are pregnant, NewsChannel5 reported.

Some would say that movies, TV, videogames, lazy parents and lax discipline may all be to blame.

School officials are not sure what has contributed to so many pregnancies, but in response to them, the school is launching a three-prong educational program to address pregnancy, prevention and parenting.

WEWS also reported that students will face mounting tensions created by unplanned child-rearing responsibilities, causing students to quit school and plan for a GED. This will make it difficult for the Canton City School District to shake its academic watch designation by the state.

Why are you blaming the school? DUH?? This fault clearly lies at the feet of the parents. Unless they were phugging AT THE SCHOOL!

This news makes me sick! :shame: Why won't these girls. We have got to go back to the days when it was not "all right" to have a child out-of-wedlock. Now it seems to be fashionable. When I was in school, you could not BE in school and pregnant. They had centers called School Away From School...it isolated pregnant girls and did not allow them to participate in extracurricular activites. Now one of my clients had a baby at 13 and was on the homecoming court at 16 and her child participated as the ball boy. :vomit: They had a baby shower for her! :vomit: I thought that was awful!!

No stigma attached to teen pregnancy, it's just a free-for-all. It needs to stop.

When I was in High school it seemed that that was thing to do...We had quite few pregnant at my school. It was so bad that at one point they nick named the school the pregnant girl school (Kay , which was a school for pregnant teens here houston). Its awful. They did say in the article that they are trying to educate these them and that they were trying to istitute a plan to curb those numbers.

When I say "THAT PLACE", I mean the town ...................parents, teachers, community, church, and most of all THE STUDENTS THEMSELVES.

Kids wanting to be grown way before their time. The parents need to talk to their kids (boys and girls) about the dangers and pitfalls of sex.

How can we get back to that time? Uhm, I had about 440 in my graduating class and I think only two were pregnant or had babies that year.

Thing is, there is no more fear in children. That was taken away from parents because of the idiot parents who were abusing their children.

My mama had me on the right track. I feared her and would barely kiss a boy in high school let alone let him get in my pants. I was too scared my mom would know and instantly appear with a bat in hand to beat my arse! I was in college for dang near 2 years before I ever even thought seriously about doing that...Today, these kids are sexually active in Jr. High and below.

Are you'll insinuating that one man could be going around inpregnating all of these women?

Of course not. But I'm sure there are a handfull of babies that were fathered by the same young man.

How many of those babies are sister and brothers?

This is not based on a scientific survey. But one of the girls interviewed on CNN Headline News was White.

IMHO, they need to go back to sending the to another school. Now, with all the "rules" it's like they make it OK to do it.
