FINALLY gets the green light after 6 years and screwed up developers. SLOW Harvey Johnson finally cut ties with these jackleg developers like DAVID WATKINS that him and these city council clowns always hired and went to FLORIDA for results.

JACKSON, Miss. —Jackson Mayor Harvey Johnson announced details Tuesday of a proposed $60 million Convention Center hotel.

The 305-room, 12-story hotel would be constructed in the parking lot across the street from the Jackson Convention Complex and would be connected by an enclosed bridge, city officials said. A parking garage, ballroom and restaurant are also included in the plan, Johnson said.

The project was put together by the Jackson Redevelopment Authority and Robinson Callen Development, a private contractor.

Next project would probably be that mini-shopping / restaurant plaza that was supposed to be with it in the original plan. The Convention center needed that Hotel bad. With this one having a enclosed Skywalk connected to the convention center, that will make it more attractive to people planning conventions.

They said Jackson lost out on $26 million in conventions since 2009 because they had no hotel connected to the convention center. They said the 1st or 2nd question people ask is if there is a hotel connected or right across the street from the convention center. People that hold and attend conventions like to roll out of bed, step out the front door, and walk right into their meeting place. They ain't got time to walk blocks or drive from the north end to attend meetings.
