Impressive crowd. There's some physicality, speed, and quickness on houston lamar's squad.

But we do see that AHS has spent time in the weightroom and taperoom. :D

Another state championship to north texas(hopefully). Where REAL hs football lives in texas.

Houston area already has 3 (or is it 4?) wins this weekend over DFW.

LOL@3-4. Certainly wasn't in 2012 that you're speaking of; maybe back in the late 80s. lol By the time these dfw area schools get to the finals/semi-finals, they'd already played better competition for 3-4 levels than those houston area schools leaving that "puffy" area. Katy is the houston area's only hope in consistency since these kids became awfully serious about their sports. If Southlake Carroll, ET, DeSoto, Mesquite, any of the Arlington schools, even the Irving schools dwelled in the greater houston area, they'd be the next Katy high down there. :emlaugh:

5A d-i Allen high school should defeat houston lamar (Allen is dfw metroplex)
5A d-ii Katy over Cedar Hill (Cedar Hill is dfw metroplex)
4A d-ii Cedar Park over Lancaster. (Cedar Park is near Round Rock, not houston but Lancaster is dfw metroplex lol)
4A d-i Denton Guyer over Georgetown (Georgetown - area code 512 lol not houston and Denton is dfw metroplex )
3A d-ii Nastysoda over Gilmer (Gilmer is near Longview - not houston but I'll give the 62 mile drive from Grimes county as houston area lol)
3A d-i Stephenville over El Campo (El Campo is nearest Wharton - I'll give you houston area for El Campo since Stephenville put up 70 pts on them  and Stephenville is n-texas)
2A d-ii East Benard over Corsicana Mildred (East Benard is waaaaaaaaay past Rosenberg, I'll give it houston area for the 65+ mile drive in  and Corsicana is n-texas)
2A d-ii Daingerfield vs Cameron Yoe (Daingerfield is n-east tx near Mt Pleasant off ih30 and Cameron is moreso Waco central texas, not houston)

Like I said earlier, REAL football does NOT live in or around houston outside of Katy high school. It LIVES in north texas, period.

Katy probably brought most of that crowd. Lamar is playing extremely well for an HISD team. I'm impressed. 21-15 Allen at halftime. I'm pulling for Lamar. That mega-school thing that Allen ISD is doing just to field a powerhouse team is a joke.

I was at this game last week. EC was in it the first 3 quarters then Stephenville did what they do best. I have alot of bad memories about SHS. I don't consider them to be "North Texas" in the same sense the DFW schools are. I have several friends from PV who were from EC. I found out that EC is a "Region 4" team which used to be the Valley/SA/Austin schools when I was in school.

I'm for the mega-school deal because that's what we went through back in the gap and we were quite successful w/ it. It's quite intimidating when you see that many kids, that big of a band (800+ pieces lol), that many fans, those super facilities, and that name on the front of those jerseys. It segregated the best of the best from the best of the rest, like most normal HSs. That's what Allen is doing, imho. That's what Lufkin does. And, that's what SLC does. That's also why they're so consistently successful year in and year out.

houston lamar is quite impressive. But I do want AHS to whoop them because I believe in the suburban model. :)

Dude cut that out. There are about 15 high schools within 15 or 20 miles of Allen.. Nobody makes people move there. Allen does a great job DEVELOPING the players in the program.

:emlaugh: See bruh? You're showing your prejudism for Stephenville because of... well... It's documented the slobber-knockers the LMQ and SHS had back in the dominant 90s. :read: 4A was ONLY SHS or LMQ - no one else so I understand how/why you feel about SHS. :read: But SHS is SHS. They reload every single year, as does LMQ.

I gave the nod to SHS as n-texas because they're w/in driving distance just on the other side of Grandbury and since Tarleton St Univ now has a branch in downtown FtW. :read: Damned shame I know where all these schools are located (from memory).

Dude any time a city has 80K+ people and 1 high school, something is wrong. That's just IN Allen, TX.

Damn. lol

With 848 members, Allen High School's Escadrille band is the largest ... , it requires 23 school buses, and three trucks filled with equipment

If that's not intimidating, I don't know what is (for teenagers). I'll be houston lamar's 30 piece band is trembling like a leaf on a tree in the middle of winter right about now. (looking AHS's band on the tube) :emlaugh:  :lmao:

Have you ever been to Allen? It's really a little bitty town j4l. :smh: empty is mostly correct, there are quite a few HSs w/in a 15-20 mile radius of AHS. :shame: Pssstt... it's situated between McKinn northward and Plano southward. :uhoh:

oh please. None of those schools are located within the confines of Allen ISD so that argument is moot.

I'm against it. I remember when LaMarque played in the 5a State Championship against Plano back in 86. A school of 1500 students vs damn near 4000. Imagine if Plano ISD followed the Allen model. Plano high would probably be close to 15k now. For all of the manufactored advantages, Allen High is an underachiever.

And they beat us 3 times in the Championship:angry: Its always refreshing to me that a powerhouse like Southlake Carrol dominated 3a and 5a but never broke though 4a in the 90s.

Whoaaaaaaaaaa!!!!! Damn I fogot about that (LMQ being 5A). Ol' funky P Sr High (4K jrs/srs) was the one who ousted us from the qrtr finals in the early 80s. But, we had 4600 students @ that time though lol.

I like that dominant type school where the best of the best is chosen. If you're not the best of the best, get in the stands and cheer.

   @ LMQ and SHS for dominating the 90s. Esp when SLC was 4A and couldn't breakthrough lol.

Fort bend isd panics if a school hits 3,000....they quickly build another which then weakens one school and you have two new weaker schools. Texas hs football is country club football as if you ca protect your zones and beat up on the rest of the sorry schools you will always be dominant

In the old days, the city schools had it all and you did not need to build 30 miles from the city for watered down football

It's 2012 tbf. Suburbs dominate, as usual, along w/ the rurals. I love this stuff. I thoroughly enjoyed watching AHS win it all. north texas HS dominates the greater houston area, yet again. :D

And so the game begins. Here comes OU, OkSt, OregonU lol, K-State, and the rest lol.

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. :D Kyler Murray is the son of former aggie Kevin Murray. Kevin played alongside my cousin former JUCO all-american RB Joey during JH's last 2yrs of collegiate action. Mannnnnnnnnnnnn, talk about the apple not falling far from the tree. I'm happy for the Murray family and AHS/city of Allen.

Murray is a disd grad...disd has made a lot of people money

Problem w Allen is a lot of kids who could play get caught in numbers games....they have no tape to show, etc.....the one hs system is great for team success but for individual success you can get lost easily

But they still can't put forth a basketball team with those numbers...lol

This is a tx hs football thread. Stay on task. lol

The numbers game has last fall's starting qb for AHS at univ of alabama on schol lol and has this yr's starter, as a soph, poised to recv 100+ offers from major schools very soon. There is no numbers game at AHS. Recruiters live there.

Nobody in Allen is complaining. Allen kids dont depend on athletics to get scholarships to go to college. Alot of they best football playets dont get scholarships because they dont meet the eyeball test allen wins because they DEVELOP playeers and get guys to buy into the program. SLC has never had a boatload of guys go D1. Katy never has a binch of guys go D1. There is no way in hell Allen Should have beat Skyline and Desoto with all the "ATHLETES" THOSE SCHOOLS HAVE. Allen outcoached both teams. You want your child to play, go to Mckinney, move to Frisco, take them to Richardson ISD.. I wish people wwill stop tryna make Allen build another school

The white kids don't complain but be black ones who don't get the looks fall short as a lot do move cause of sports. I see them hustle every year before signing day. Katy and Allen spend more on outside stuff for player development thanks to booster clubs than a disd school can........Lancaster prove that as they have facilities to help

The numbers game is no punk for real. I know this is football but my kid who is highly trained and has more experienced than most 7th graders, but he got cut along with 100 other kids (not an inflated number) from his 7th grade team. His other AAU team mates made their teams, but only had 35-45 kids even try out for their respective basketball teams. Thanks to the numbers at his school, their coach never even have to leave his seat to coach his team and their lowest margin of victory is around 25 points, just like Allen watch out for Mansfield Lakeridge (new suburban school opened this year) around 2015 it will be between Desoto and Mansfield representing North Texas in BBall and maybe football too. Luckily my boys are black boys that don't need athletics for college, they know the motto at our house "Brains last longer than knees!"
